I wonder if Blizzard will screw it up.
For me i think they should keep it simple, with some new stuff. And not overdue the graphics like everyone does these days. K.I.S.S!!!!!!!! |

I love Starcraft.
This news came out when I was at a LAN on a Saturday night. Needless to say the admins who have net access instantly downloaded the trailer and played it on the projector for us

Yes yes, holy thread mine batman.....
digging this one up to illustrate that it has been over three (3) years since the official announcement of Starcraft II. That's how long I've been waiting for this little puppy now released on 27 July 2010. That's a long time to 'wait for perfection'. Having said that, has anyone purchased and played a bit of it yet? If so, what are your impressions so far. This game robbed me of literally months of my life and gave me a bad case of RSI!! And I've been putting off upgrading my computer until I knew what the desired specs were to run the game.

Can't beleive the amount of time that's elapsed between Starcraft 1 and 2. I'm getting my copy while I'm in town this week.

A little off topic but.... I haven't played Starcraft but had heard it was similar to the Command and Conquer series. So having all the older C&C games I bought C&C 4. Good thing it was on special as it's nothing like the previous versions and is crap!!
Anyone played both to compare?

Yes I've played both. Whilst they are the same genre of game (RTS) C&C has two (fairly similar) team options whereas starcraft has three races (the Terrans, humans exiled from Earth skilled at adapting to any situation; the Zerg, a race of insectoid aliens in pursuit of genetic perfection obsessed with assimilating other races; and the Protoss, a humanoid species with advanced technology and psionic abilities). All have very different attributes, subspecies, technologies, upgrades - but the balance of the game was nigh on perfect.
The game is a national sport in Korea - and they have television stations dedicated to starcraft 24/7. Their top players are like hollywood movie stars. I've really enjoyed the earlier command and conquer games but they are not in the same league with starcraft. do yourself a favour, go out and grab a copy. The game has a great story line as well.

I've got SCII and SC. I haven't played C&C too much, but for mine it's quite similar. But that's like saying... Counter Strike and Modern Warfare 2 are similar for example.
I think SCII is good and it's very much like the original but they've lost the chat rooms which was a good feature of the original. F6T - I know what you mean. Starcraft can get quite addictive especially if you have mates who play it aswell!

Tell me about it mate. There was a group of us that were pretty keen players and we had no LAN set up so I secretly got our IT guy at my old place of employment to install the game (he was a fan too) on the work LAN. Then, after hours, we would all go into work, have a separate office to play in, keep the phone lines open so we could all still talk and hang ****** on each other. One of our clients was a large beer company that shall remain nameless, so there was never any shortage of beer and chips. play into the night and the boss was none-the-wiser the next day....good times

OK. Loaded the old Starcraft. Like has been said, it's similar to C&C.... Mine stuff, build things, and kill bad guys.
But I'd forgotten just how bad the graphics were then.... AARRGGHHH my eyes!!

If you want somethign modern that still plays like the old games, pick up C&C3, should be able to get it cheap now. RA3 is OK, but its gone completely silly. P.S if you're up for a multiplayer game, I'd gladly kick your *** ;) |
