Unhappy Engine Shudder

Hey Guys n Girls,
Got a problem with S1 Classic shuddering when braking. It happens just b4 i come to a stop. It's not the brakes, but the engine or tranny.Once at a stand still the car seems to idle alright, though revs seem a bit low. 5.5 - 6k. The problem started after i had the battery disconnected. Any help would be greatly appreiciated. Thanx.
P.S. It is worse when the car is hot.

when the battery is disconected, its resets the PCMs KAM (keep alive memory), which has parameters set for idle,fuel and ignition strategies... usually pays to pull the intake tube off and give the throbttle body a clean...

i hope you mean 550 to 600 rpm? 5.5 to 6 thousand rpm is very very high.

How do you know it's not your brakes? What makes you think that it's your engine or trannie? Could be warped rotars...

Could also be something to do with the powersteering too....

had that exact same problem after i got my battery replaced it just sorted it self out in the end after a while and some good long drives in all styles, flat out, normal, granny driving, just put it through all sorts of driving so it can learn again. do it with the air con on and off
