All the sheep public see is 4.0L six-cylinder and go well if my 1.8L kia does 9l/100klms then a 4.0L will do over 20L/100klms without actually investigating the issue. Without even looking at the ADR/81 sticker.

You really want them to sell?? Put a Toyota badge on them!!

Toyota in this country almost sell more than Holden and Ford put together!

People need to realise a few things,

1) There are more Holden loyal customers out there than Ford, its a Fact.
2) Holden are selling more cars to fleets at low cost which is pumping their numbers up... but do they make money selling them..?
3) Ford have gone about positioning their product to appeal more to private buyers with higher spec models.. this is reflected in sales brand mix.
4) The Ford line is currently at capacity, Burella has indicated a plan is now in place to be able to increase production by 15% by year end, this is no easy task.
5) So effectively Ford are selling as many FG's as they can physically make.

The reality is Ford is a smaller company than Holden, it doesn't need to sell as many cars to cover operational and fixed costs to begin with.
Burella has made it clear that sustainable profitability of the business is more important that just buying volume and market share for the sake of it... but that's no excuse for not trying to sell more, which i'm sure they are.

But to answer the original question; How do Ford sell more FG's? at this stage just Make more...

it is amaaaazing how many people with little or no experience with either ford or holden..when asked what they like will instantly say...nah screw the ford/holden..depending on friends/family opinions they may have heard.they will instantly become a ford or holden fan for life most likely from the smallest of comments. Ford needs only to make more to sell more id say at the moment

Reinstate consumer confidence by having Alan Mulally detail Ford AU’s business plan post 2015. It could read something like this:

Increase production and actually have cars available for sale.. Decrease XT price for fleets.

Hahaha, no way! Holden buyers would never buy a rebadged car just because it has a Holden badge on it. Thats like saying the Barina is a Daewoo..

Allow me to direct your attention to a thread I started the other day...
Regarding the fact that Commodores were infact re-badged Opel/Vauxhalls for more than 10 years!!!

Why do you care about Ford selling more FGs?
I couldn't care less as long as they are making a profit and I can buy one.

There is no magic solution . All though wacking a holden badge would probly be a quick fix .

What ford need to do is simple . Make well built ,good reliable cars it wont increase sales over night but it could put them up there with toyota in a decades time .
There is no better advertising the one bloke saying to the next . I had my car for 3 or 4 years now and the only time its seen a mechanic it was when it needed a service.

That style of thinking will take many many years. But I do see signs already occuring.

I'm a member of Whirlpool forums. They too, have an automotive section. For me, it's a good source of what the "public" is thinking, as it isn't a dedicated car forum as such, rather a gathering of people who like a wide range of cars.

From what I've read, the newer Ford models (BF, FG, Mondeo, Fiesta, Focus) have been recieving a great wrap. This to me shows that Ford Aus is well on its way to lifting its public image!

What he said.
Instill confidence back into the consumer, one way would be to confirm the Falcon's life in AU.

As much as we as enthusiasts care about it I don't Ford are to worried about the number differences between themselves and Holden. One of these companies posted a small profit (Ford) recently and one a big loss (Holden). I know which company I would prefer to be right now.

This point, and the fact that Ford are at capacity right now seems lost on so many.....

one way to sell more cars and make people have confidence in the brand is to have a v8 as your flag ship and not some turbo inline 6 thing. maybe the new blown engine will help.

and bring back the dam fairlane. i dont even like ford but that is a legendary name. your giving all the long wheel base sales to holden!

Why?? How does having a V8 as the flagship equate more confidence in the brand and sell more cars???

As was said by 4V ... capacity is there with the current shifts so things ticking over. If they had a little bit more stock, maybe they would sell more.

FPV I am sure would love to sell alot more. If they did, profits would be better and they can then start experimenting with different things. There is one way to fix this ........
