Unhappy 2015 MD Ecoboost Trend Hatch Issues

Hi Everyone,

New to the forum after wasting time with the dealer trying to diagnose and fix issues, I thought id ask fellow owners if they have experience with the below.

Issue 1: Car gives a thump while at a stand still occasionally. Feels like someone bumped the car.

Issue 2: Jerky creeping. When creeping forward the car feels jerky or lumpy.

Issue 3: Rough idling. Shuddering coming off brake and onto throttle. Throttle fixes it. Have tried LiquiMoly fuel system cleaner which was great when it was in the tank. Next tanks, back to this shuddering again.

Issue 4: Knock when going off brake, then onto throttle. Feels like bad clutch plates (yes, impossible in an auto). Slight hesitation then, *clack*, connects up and away again.

Issue 5: When coming to a stop, wheels turned, there a clunk in the front end, I can feel it below my feet. Ford Tech could feel it and hear it, but after 24 hours at dealer, could not fault.

Issue 6: Car steers and rides terribly. Some days, she is as smooth as silk. Gliding over bumps, feeling nice and supple. Other days I may as well be riding on 20's. This is most of the time now. Im constantly steering out of where the road faults seems to take the car. Have had numerous alignments done.

Have never made progress with these with the dealer after many years. Frankly sick of them, and the car. A few weeks out of warranty and had a month left when i last saw them for the Takata recall. We went through these issues again and they couldnt fault the car.

I have a year left till i switch over, but afraid if i take it to an independent then ill be coming out with a big repair bill.

I have experienced 1, 2 and 6, albeit intermittently, but not the others. Unfortunately, intermittent faults not always easy to diagnose, but I'll raise the issue with them again at the next service due soon.

Can I ask what fuel you put in your car? I use 98RON exclusively, and in my experience, BP Ultimate seems to reduce the occurrence of Issue 1.

Issue 6; The MC (and I presume, the MD also) are VERY sensitive to wheel alignment.
Toe settings seem to be extremely sensitive.
Go to a specialist alignment place, remembering, of course, that your tyres wear to compensate alignment, and the issues may not go away with an alignment alone.
Good luck

Yes I use 98RON exclusively. Costco (Mobil) mainly and BP, Caltex and Shell at a pinch.

Thank you for the reply. It's a bit confusing, but it gets aligned at the dealer every service. However, I and I'm sure you guys, wouldnt at all be surprised that it didnt do much or made it worse.

As I said, go to a specialist. If someone can recommend one near you, all the better.
My service manager's attitude cost me a set of the original Bridgestones in no time flat!!
