So, the telstar's dead basically.
Applied for a loan last weekend, was still deciding at that time whether to get a new car (rwd again), or if i should spend the money on making the telstar oh so much quicker than it already was. Later that day, i blow the motor up. Not entirely, like it still runs (just), but rings are like...not only worn, it's like they never exisited. Piston slap like a ИИИИИ (see, should have bought a rotary lol..), so having to crawl to and from work, and no other driving. Even then was still thinking could possibly do a mild rebuild, have it bored, stronger pistons & rings etc, port an polish head, hi-flowed turbo, bigger exhaust, boost increase etc etc - but i got offered a deal with telstar with regards to selling it. I basically get exactly what i paid for it, but with pretty much blown motor (and dying turbo gakset). New owner gonna drop a new motor in, then prolly have some fun then sell it. So awaiting approval on loan, i won't be in a Ford anymore.. :( Mean i won't be driving the new car out to a AFF cruise, so i'll be coming out with Sami in the Falcon (who knows..she may even lemme DRIVE it.. :O ). Sorry to the other four cyl boys on here, ur now just that bit more outnumbered.. :P Gonna miss this car like crazy when it's gone.. Hopefully still see some of ya's on the cruises. Don't gimme hell cause my baby ain't a blue oval anymore.. :P

Nah it's not a Ford...
Don't want another FWD right at the moment, and i've wanted one of these cars for a fairly long time (one of many on a long list). Don't worry, there's other Fords on that list, so i'll be back in a Ford one day i dare say..And i'll still be out with Sami, can't just leave her to the lions.. :P

So don't be a slut what is it? If its a VN I'll slap ya face. Tell me you got a loan for 10-15k and bought a Mitsubishi GTO V6 twin-turbo AWD supercar? Or a similar 8-10k on a AWD Familia, Pulsar GTiR, or maybe a Eunos Cosmos for that turbo-AWD-rotory feeling???
Or maybe an early 90's ScoobyDoo Liberty? Lexus Soarer? PLease god not a Silvia. |

Dave, there's a V8, 4-spd manual XD for sale across the road from my work. very neat and tidy from the outside. I would buy it if I didn't have 4 extra cars in the yard at the moment already and I wasn't broke.
I could find out a price.

Its a 4cyl, CA18DET motor (thats Double OHC EFI Turbo for non nissan ppl :P ) and 5sp. Seen pics of the car before, but not in person. currently around 125rwkw I think, but definately potential to better that.
he saw the light and bought a nissan :P hahaha.. that being said I still love my XW, just fords as daily's tend to have to many problems.. well my EF did.. and my R31 skyline has been perfect

Is that Phantom purple? Vibe purple? Flaming homosexual purple? This why we need pics you see. I assume its the rarely spotted usually white imported two-door variety of the square Pintara/Skyline sedans sold here late 80s?
Unique? Ar, yeah... can you buy parts for this one Dave? Of course you realise a Mazda RX7 is owned by Ford, but a Nissan is something different altogether - sold next to Renault Clio's at Nailsworth, and driven by Jim Richards and Mark Skaife who later went to Holdens... And answer me this Dave - did you tell us because you couldn't resist the urge - or because Sami made you re: my little comment above? All jokes asside now - I'm sure its a sporty, smart, quick car - and thank god its not another white one. And hey, you could have bought worse. I find the comment above from Hotwire a tad far-fetched implying an imported turbo could possibly be more reliable than an Aussie built taxi - no disrespect Hotwire - but Nissans are a very good product; certainly the Nissan motors in VL Commodores STILL make that the best model Holden to date. So in contrary to my last sentance, the Japs do have their stuff figured out - my concern being an imported vehicles' engineered longevity... I.e. an Aussie Pulsar will go and go, but a Jap-spec GTiR version is always in the shop as it doesn't cater for hundreds of thousands of kays. I hope yours falls further from the tree my mate's GTiR fell from. And I lookforward to seeing it. Should definately be interesting to see one other than white - and whichever purple it is I imagine it will look very good. |

New car is a 1.8 DOHC 16v 4cyl turbo, not a 6 cylinder. |

ROFL at how confused you guys have got!!
It's an R31 Pintara, yes. Which makes it an AUSSIE built car. It's not the phantom purple..it's like, the flaming gay purple? i dunno, only got pics from prevoius owner, Sami coming around in morning an we'll have some more to put up by lunch time. Tru i'll still be a four cyl boy, but not with a ford lol so kinda counts me out a bit. Hotwire i just realised how the hell you knew bout me being on here, didn't realise it was the same hotwire from the 31 forums rofl!!! Um, yep CA18DET..1.8 litre, double overhead cam efi turbs..NOT what pintara's came with..they came with CA20e's...2 litre, single overhead cam carby motors..car still has the ca20 box (ouch, 2nd gear not liking that), but that will get replaced with a ca18det box (ie, ИИИИload stronger, an better ratio's) in about a month to month an a half. um what else...its' purple, has black mags with machined lip (weird jap rims, love em tho, 15's too with 205/60 tyres, so easy to get from the 2nd hand pile at work rofl). front mount intercooler, 2 1/4" exhaust...stock turbo, running stock boost - 120.5 rear wheel kilowatts. Already got bleed valve so i can crank boost, should be getting full 3" exhaust sometime soon, so that should put power at about the 150kw @ the wheels mark. oh yeah...4.11 diff gears, with mini spool going in on the 11th, woooooooo w00t (then wait for those crappy 25 spline axles to break, which gives me an excuse to put stronger ones in lol). And omg - no ricey gay PSSSCHHHT blow off valve!! no bov at all, just mad turbo flutter hehe oh an mike..it's 4 door, being an aussie made r31. will come to the next aff cruise meet in it so u can have a looksy or something lol. no sticking ford badges on it lol..it don't even have nissan badges on it..haha it's funny tho, ppl think it's a skyline...something to do with the fact it has skyline lights, skyline grill and skyline front bar (pintara and skyline 31's were EXACTLY the same body wise cept grill bumpers and tail lights..they also have same suspension and brakes too, just diff engine/box/diffs etc). and yes..i can actually buy parts for this, easy to given how big the australian r31 club is. catchya's

And different wheel studs ....
And wasn't the CA18DET 2nd only to the 1.5ET Exa's for heads, rings, etc.? Hope you've done your research cause mine kept coming up with very BAD reasons not to own that car... Please prove me wrong mate! |
