At this stage, non intercooled only, and just confirming a few details, but looking like 9995 drive in drive out will be confirmed by weeks end,

also, exclusive to BPR, and at this stage 5 kits only.

Will have details by weeks end be patient....

Well as Chris wouldn't let anything go out half arsed, I'm guessin It'll be a KB 2.6 with everything NON I/C needed (Drive in Drive out) to around the 350rwkw's mark (depending on the car) so yeah GOOD PRICE!

Damn you Finnen!

Why didn't I know the 302 had the 10.8 comp before I ordered it??????

Awsome deal mate, there is going to be some lucky Boss 290 / 260 owners very soon. That must represent one of the best bang for buck deals yet to hit the market.

And a proper Kenne Bell no less. At that price, tuned by you. Unreal.

you can still put a blower on a 302! it's only 3 points higher then the 290, just knock some timing out of it...

I've seen a PD blower kit on a 315...

You can do a lot of things, but one thing you wont do is put a KB on a 302/315...... Mr Chris will not allow this.

So have I

yeh sure, there is lots experts that tell me it can be done.

I suggest you talk to chris mate, he'll not supply a Kb to a 302 / 315 owner. In so doing, he's effectively losing sales, and that's a relfection of the mans integrity. He won't put together something that is likely to fail when leaned on by the owner.

How long do you reckon a high comp plus boost, plus sustained track use will last? best advice I've received, from someone that knows more than we've collectively forgotten, is that it would be like walking on thin ice, very very thin ice.

An A - B car may last, with 5 or 6 pound, but a car used at 10 / 10ths, i do not think so.

I pleaded with Chris for KB, and he talked me down from the idea given my application. Most other tuners...... they'd have grabbed my cash and run.............

Thanks Tex,

yes Fordboy, even a recent conversation I had with Rob Herrod was interesting, with a YT fully intercooled kit only producing LOW 300's in a BF302 he was tuning.........lucky the customer had the budget for a built short motor, Rob wisely upgraded his customer and the car shot up power wise to where it should be, albeit at an extra cost.

We are the only Supercharger manufacturer that has taken this stance, maybe I should have sold the 30 kits for 302/315 owners and "taken the money and run". But, one thing I do know of, is that there are other supercharger manufacturers out there (heck, some even sponsor this forum) that have indeed supplied supercharger kits to 315 owners.

Out of 10 that called me, 4 listened, 6 purchased an opposition product, and a perfect 6 out of 6 FAILED. I know of a few people running competitors kits that are lurking around that are still alive, and trust me, one of our mid 290rwkw Bolt on 315's with a nice rear axle ratio would run with them no problem. Not worth doing when a bolt on car will nudge it.

Chris

Is the main reason for you not fitting blowers on BOSS 302/315 engines because it is absolutely a ticking time bomb in any application? Or, is it because, to safely fit a supercharger to an engine of 10.8 comp, you simply can't extract enough out of it to make it worth it? Why is 10.8 so much more fatal than 10.5 BOSS 290?

In an attempt to answer my own question, I'm guessing that 10.5 is at the limit of safety, but in the long term still wouldn't last near as long as a BOSS 260 at the same boost/setup, whilst the 10.8 is effectively the 'straw that broke the camels back'? I'm very interested in your clarification Chris, and I apologise if you have answered this previously.

Chris

For the record Chris, the two FG GT's we have fitted YT blower kits to are alive and well, one gets punished monthly at track days as well as being the daily work truck and the other performs the Berwick to City Monash trip twice a day, every day of the working week.

We have been supercharging 11-1 compression ratio engines for years, they work well. :voldar02:

Also, I dont agree they are a time bomb, if it has the right amount of fuel in it, the right amount of timing in it and the customer uses the correct fuel, it will live, the same as every high performance engine. You just got to get it right.

If you follow this link for the build up of a Super Charged, Super Pursuit 315: http://www.c31.org.au
Then search: Oz Garage, then click on the 24th of May episode.

Regards,

Matt.

Hi, how much power are these cars producing?

2 vehicles is hardly definitive proof that there's happiness to be had with a forced 302 / 315 wouldn't you agree

Not trying to be a smart **** but does this comment suggest ( "You just got to get it right".)that theres next to no margin for error when tuning a S/C 315?

Hi Tex,

Both cars make around 350 Real World kw on a very unhappy dyno, run after run.

Yes, I will agree, but while we have only done two 302 / 315 Boss engines, we have supercharged or turbocharged probably hundreds of LS2 11-1 compression GM V8 engines, which was the 2nd point in my post.

Pete, no problem with your post. I think its fare to say you have got to get it right when supercharging any engine, especially if it was designed to be N/A from the outset. We do not tune to the ragged edge, which most people know, and by doing this we leave a small margin to take into account differing fuel quality, etc. We actually have customers coming to us for this exact same reason.

Pete, to answer your question, no, what I said is generic for all applications.

Anyway, I have hyjacked Chris's thread enough.

Cheers,

Matt.
