If he doesn't care about the fuel bill, buy the G6ET. If he's a little more environmentally conscious, or wants to be seen as such, or maybe wants to be seen as having a bit of new tech, buy an EB4 G series.

Depends what he likes. G6ET has the luxury but has slightly softer suspension than an XR6T, XR6T and G6ET obviously use the same amount of fuel and the EB4 is significantly more fuel efficient.
If he likes performance and luxury he should buy a G6ET If he's likes performance and more sportiness buy a XR6T If he wants to save fuel buy the EB4 and sorry I can't resist, I'm nearly your uncle's age so tell him if he wants to feel young again buy an F6 or a SC FPV. |

I just bought one and love it, best of both worlds. And I have a sift for the GtE too, as they ooze class. But so does the G6. Get him to test drive one. |

For the record, my shortlist was XR6T with luxury pack, G6ET or a low Kay's GT or GS with leather. G6ET was the best value out of all of them.

Who would have thought someone would cross shop an EB4 with XR6T/GE6T!!!
Out of curiosity, how did the EB4 get into the mix? Does he like turbo’s? |

It has enough power to satisfy his revhead side, as do the other cars. And he doesn't mind a turbo. |

He'd be waiting a few months to get an ecoboost if he really wanted one, but I can't see how he'd be cross shopping them anyway, totally different vehicles. Ones for economy, the others are for go. |

Baby F6, Id ignore Ecoboost if buying now......
G6T - looks a bit ordinary, but its far from it. Excellent car for $$$. XR6T - just as fast but not as luxurious, and has the "boy racer image" (love or hate) My pick - G6T would be best all considered. especially the age of buyer (or just get your uncle to buy the best of all (FG F6)......ha ha |

If money is at all a factor, surely the XR6T is the winner. If not, it purely depends what your needs are. |

With all due respect what is a 53yo asking his (assuming) grandson to ask some randoms on a website about how he should spend $50k.
All are good cars, I couldnt see a 53yo buying a XR6T in a hurry, and if they do there is a good chance it will be an auto. You get the XR6T because of a manual, therefore the G6ET wins. At 53 I would hope you would be enjoying the finer things in life, even if you have to pay a bit more.

Once you get to 50 you start to realise you'd better live your dreams now or maybe there won't be all that many tomorrow's and even if there are and you make it to retirement, there's no guarantee's your health will be 100% in due course. On that basis, and I am speaking from experience being of a similar age to your uncle, you might as well do the job properly and get a SC FPV or an F6. If he buys anything less he'll always be wondering...
If his finances are limited to affording one of the 3 options listed then the G6ET is a no brainer choice IMO. Last edited by Rodge; 13-02-2012 at 11:59 AM. |

As per my previous comment, and a couple of others, might be best for him just to pay a little more and get the F6......
Better than the other three, and if in a discreet colour (maroon, black, white - nothing hypo) they look great. |

Why are G6E I6 or EcoPLi not in the mix here?
EcoLPi - more power and most importantly more torque than I6 and really cheap to run, sounds like a no-brainer. If he's not too worried about cash, then G6ET is the obvious choice. |
