Question An LS 2007 Focus horror story. Like a kid putting down Old Yeller. Am I screwed?

My first new car I bought from 2007 may have died.

RIP.

SO I went and got an old LandCruiser.

Further analysis suggests I freaked out.

Symptoms:

After 339,847 km, after an oil change, the car suddenly had trouble accelerating and holding speed in gear. Also masses of smelly, sweet to rubbery smoke out the back, white and voluminous.

No water in oil. No oil in coolant. Proportional to throttle.

Have I just got to clean/renew the PCV valve/hose and renew my spark plugs?

I thought the head or head gasket was caput. The bloke who convinced me to pull over thought it was my clutch. For a while, I thought it was just worn out like a 100 year old man's heart (low compression, no guts uphill etc) and so just internal wear to boot or a destroyed bearing.

NO OBD II codes.

Possibly the cat. converter is plugged up with too much muck???

I can part ways with my cat wrapped in bubble wrap if I know WHY it died.

You've been a Bad Boy, Bubby.

A busted bearing between the manual transmission and engine makes the most sense and I have concluded that is the cause, now I can rest easy.

RIP. :single red rose:
