i doubt aami will touch you, they usually reccomend Justcar, which is a seperate division of AAMI.
I know that in my case AAMI has got me limited to two mods and ive only got a povo pack AU.

I called them when I bought my NA XR6, and they still didn't want to know me.
Called Just Cars and was told $4011 a year. I laughed and hung up.

As I said, the facility is there to pay online once they have accepted you, and it is cheaper than over the phone, or personally attending their office. Just make sure that your answers are honest though. |

Do you live in a high theft area and/or are you sure they didn't mistake it for an XR6T? |

ok, if xr6t got it at 27 , thats my age, then whats a good postcode to give them , then i will know if it is where i live.i argued this point with them but they told me if someone else was insured that was under 30 it must be with aami s other company just cars.

Your reading too much into it. It is quite possible that other people under 30 are in actual fact insured with them. The more likley scenario is perhaps that person spoke to a new customer service person that had not correctly checked thier guidelines. It's basically the other persons good luck and your bad luck. Could also be there were other considerations, ie number of policies, history, etc. Hell it could even be that the customer blatanly lied to them. *shrugs*

yeah i think there is a little more to it than postcode.i asked to speak to several other people , managers ect, not just the lady that answered the phone and they all stated that there was no way anyone under the age of 30 would be insured with them( with an xr6t).anyway got a better quote from someone else so @#$% aami.

Try Vigil I just got my V8 Fairlane insured with them for half the price of Just Cars. You have a manager who is the only person you talk to which I think is great. Mods are unlimited but must be done by qualified mechanic.

I just bought a xr6t. I'm 24 and AAMI wouldnt touch me. No one will insure me exepct for NRMA ($2800) and JustCars ($2200). I went with Justcars in the end.

Mods would be that it is lowered. Accessories would be Tinted windows, 17 in wheels, cd player and towbar. Therefore you only have 1 mod in that list

I tried to get a quote for a 2005 XR6T for $28,000, I am 22.
Got this response "We were unable to offer you an automatic online insurance quotation due to the following reasons: Type of vehicle" XR6T's obviously have trouble written all over them |

As someone who works for an insurance company, I can only advise people to ring around when looking for quotes ... every company has their own rules as to what and who they will or won't cover. Things like your own driving history will come into play, too.
The other thing we do if we can't cover a customer is to contact the Insurance Ombudsman Service, they oversee the whole industry and know of insurers that you may have never heard of that do different types of cover. A mate of mine has a BA XR6 and when it was still stock he had a hell of a time trying to get cover, because his wife was under 30 and many insurers just wouldn't come into it. But can I also just suggest, if an insurer knocks you back, don't take it personally. The person you speak to is only following their given rules, they're usually the furtherest removed from the decision-making. Feel free to give polite and constructive feedback, but please don't give the operators a hard time ... they're just doing their job. :-)

Hi,
I am insured with AAMI. I am 26 and drive a V8. I find them the best value of all insurance companies. The only thing I have on my policy is that no one under the age of 25 can drive the car- being a V8. I asked them about Just Car Insurance (just out of interest) and they said my driving record was "too good" to qualify for that (no tickets, no loss of license, only 1 minor accident years ago) and they were happy to insure me. It must come down to high theft/low theft suburbs! cheers, Paul : |

I'm 29 ... and I got a quote for a Turbo Territory GHIA ... and it worked out cheaper than my base model TX Territory N/A ... all this through NRMA ... go figure.
Both just under the $1,000 p/a mark. I live in Sydney NSW as well.

Maybe they differentiate between XR6T and F6 ... who knows how they work these things out. Anyway, I insured with Suncorp - new car replacement for first two years, one free windscreen per year - $860. |
