Just back from a holiday in Sydney, seemed like every second car in the CBD was an Audi, Mercedes or BMW

I believe the the date is wrong. I’m thinking no later than 73. Notice there is no Xb falcons or Hj kingswoods. The latest falcon I could see looked like an Xa police car to me. Anyone else have a guess of the age of the film.

There is a few Q’s to be seen, especially in the first 20 secounds. Also note the imperial speed limits. Metric was introduced in July 74.

and we thought the city was packed then lol.......
Great days !
HQ wagon/HT's/HG's I noticed and countless Falcons galore/panel vans/Homer vans/Bedford table tops/Austins/Vals/AP6's/Eskies/Toranoas/VW Kombis/...when we could speed even in the city.
NO cameras/CTV//NO random testing/NO seat belts in most/give way to the right religiously/no roundabouts.....love it.

G'day ...Great video , I was not surprised to see the cars then were vastly local which is as you'd expect ..Loved the XW and XY taxi's and so many early Falcons like XK's XM and XP, Mk1 Escorts , Morris's, and all sorts of Holdens and Chryslers too ... I love these look back in time vids , I would have been grade 10 then .

Speaking of school , check this one about Kogarah High School in 1972 . Check out the blokes hair styles as much as anything and the great music and the length of the girls uniforms.. Those were the days ...Those kids would all be retiring about now if not already..

I was interested to see there were still heaps of drivers hogging the right lane while failing to overtake.
Probably the parents of the people who still do it today.

great video.

I reckon it about 1972-1973 at the latest
XB taxi gets a bit of air under the wheels at 3.42
taxi drivers were a bit different to the ones today

It was fun trying to recognize the road's & streets, they looked familiar but i only recognized George Street i think lol. A great video of a past generation though the backing music was a bit off imo.

Those double deckers were fun to ride on too up top, time warp me back to those times today & i probably wouldnt come back lol!

cheers, Maka

3.32 to 3.52 is some sort of freeway/expressway, as the sign states 50(mph) at the beginning (3.32) and the road goes two lanes for quite a while with no traffic lights or access roads joining it.
what road is that?
and what does it looks like now?

Looks like General Holmes Drive from South Dowling st at Surry Hills , past Pagewood on the way to Mascot Airport.

Some great old delivery trucks running around then too, Bedford TK's Bedford J3, and few Dodge D5N paper trucks and Dodge AT4's.

I knew Sydney really well as I was a courier driver in the early 80's and as a kid rode the old Malvern Star all over Sydney with my mates.

i saw 1 datsun dual cab (red one) and some other japper. but that datsun shows it was before its time, cause duel cabs are everywhere now.
how about those funny little morris minors, few of them too.

i,m glad people the joy the walk down memory lane.

i think the cabs are a hint for a more accurate time period.

some of those old trucks like j2 bedford, image driving one of those around. back when men drove for a living.

As stated this looks like early 1970s, not 1975. Look what Australia looked like before the the Whitlam government changed the immigration policy.

Man I’d like to go back there for a few days. Real cars, not so much plastic in them, chicks with not so much silicone in them, and life with not so BS in it. I’d knock back a few after work with the mates at the High Flyer hotel at Bankstown, head to the Speedway at Sydney Showgrounds, go see a few good rough bands at the Sundowner hotel and stagger out and probably hand back the keys to the delorean and stay there. Great times

Ahh no Kerbside latte drinking look at me crowd, just a simple life where people watch where they walk instead of looking at phone screens. Geez we have come so far. Pffft. We have lost so much more.
