Default Whats your Ford story(the origin of your passion)

Well my passion for everything Ford started when i use to see the ea falcons driving around(i know i know,ea you say),but yes i loved that shape,i was 13 at the time and even liked the sound of them.Ever since that day Ford has been one of the biggest things in my life and no matter what i will never lose my loyalty and love of anything to do with Ford.I can just imagine some of the tales to be told in this thread so let ya hair down and reveal your true Ford origin tale.

I was the same, i was driving a Mazda 2, was very uncomfortable.... thought the XR6 looked awesome, kept seeing them everywhere....

Then i was diagnosed with a Progressive aggressive auto immune disease wich attacks my spine and tendons and joints and muscles etc. , so i decided to upgrade for "comfort"....

was a bloody good excuse to trade in my $17,000 Mazda 2 for $21,000, and put that towards my xr6

Then the XR6 didnt put me back in my seat enough..... so i got the XR8...

I take at least one picture a day of a ford, be it my own car, or one i see driving past... i'm obsessed :| i think i have an addiction problem.

My dad used to drag race XTs when I was knee high so Fords was always going to be passion and so I started buying Street Machine when I was about 8. The Fords that stand out to mind from my younger era were Howard Astills Rock Solids and what he would bring out next.
Also Michael Kranks 10 sec XT competing for Australias fastest street car was racing around the same time.

the inline 6 engine.

I admit when i was young (for whatever reason) i preferred holdens. Then once I drove my old EL xr6, i thought jesus.. this is brilliant!

Never understood how someone could choose a v6 willingly over the i6 now

a friend of mine had a BA GT fakie-D, and I loved the shape of it, loved how cheap they where getting and loved the idea of owning one. My real passion started however when dads mate fought me to drive in an XB GT coupe....who else has done that!!

When I was a young teenager a drunk driver crashed into our HQ Kingswood which was parked on the street. It got shunted into the side of our house, we thought it was a minor earthquake at the time. Drunk guy walked away, even though the steering wheel of his car was bent in the shape of his chest!

Needless to say the HQ was a write off, it was replaced with a Vermiilion Fire XA wagon and that was the car in which I learnt to drive.

There was a green manual XB hardtop that used to come down our street, I can still remember the awesome sound it made. I don't know what was under the hood but I can recall it wheel spinning when the guy changed gears. Made an impression on me.

My dad had a beautiful XC GXL 351 when i was a kid, and i used to love that car, would hear it coming from blocks away

My first V8 was a 66 XR 289.

It was painted in primer

All the doors were different colours & could not be opened from the outside once locked

The roof had at some point been used as a trampoline

It had no carpet or roof lining

The air vents could not be closed (Canberra Winter = brrrrrrrrrrrrr)

Bucket seats - the drivers side would slip all the way back under hard accelaration & me being short meant that I couldn't reach the peddles

It had been converted to a single rail 4 speed

The clutch had some massive slippage - when it worked

Dual sounding exaust - sweet note

It had a massive front end alignment problem - would pull sharply to the right & driving it in a straight line was a struggle

The wife hated it with a passion - I absolutely loved it

Sold a perfectly good economical toyota celica to buy it

Paid waaaaay too much for it

Sold it for a lot less than my purchase price

Friend of the father in law at the time had an XR Fairmont Wagon freshly painted gun metal grey fresh 289, but had gearbox problems - Minister of finances wouldn't approve necessary funds to purchase this "heap of crap" as well.

Still wish I had it

As a young bloke back in the sixties, I really thought the local fella with his soft pack smokes rolled in his black T shirt sleeve, californian poppied hair and arm hangin out the window of his dark blue XP Coupe was so cool (he was what we termed at the time a "bog").

So a few years back I went and bought a coupe myself. It's build quality is poor by today's standards, but it still has the appeal of a robber's dog.

My dad's Phase 3 that he put an offenhauser manifold and mechanical roller cam in in the late 70's.

We had brock commodores, torana's, chargers, chev monaro's, all with varying degrees of added HP, but nothing came close to the Monster clevo in the XY we had.

In 1982 the car went 12.03. Great days.

When i was 13 my best mate and i started to get into cars and read Street Machine. Thats when i found the XYGT HO i never looked back. My mate went to the red side.

When I was a young bloke, I always liked cars, had heaps of matchbox cars and hot wheels.

Then dad bought and LTD...Older shape like XE/XD...I would have been about 7 or 8 I rekon? I loved the car.

But my real love for fords came when he bought a Red EA S-Pac with chrome 12 slotters. From that day on I was obsessed with Fords.

Day came for me to buy my first car, hunted around and found a red EA S-Pac, identical to dads old car except it had snowflakes. Had a rebuilt motor as well.

So pretty much, my love and passion for Fords comes from my old boy.

The passion started in 1975 at age 13.....I lived in NZ the time and the most popular family car on the road over there between 1972 and 1977 was the Mark 3 Cortina (TC/TD) . I just loved this car and couldn't wait until that day I could afford to own one myself. That day happened on 28 November 1979 (same day as the Air New Zealand Mt Erebus DC-10 crash) when I bought a 1972 Mk3 Cortina 2000 GT with 55,000 miles on the odo. I had this car two years before buying a Mk4 Cortina ( a TE in Australia) and then a string of Falcons until my current car , the BA GT...Have owned nothing but Fords but could have easily moved to the other side on many occasions but stood firm.

My dad always had Falcons so it's ingrained.

My first dream car was the XB coupe since I was about 12. Owned an XA for my first car so I guess I lived my dream.

Me and my dad used to every Saturday and most of the holidays drive up in the effa to Yea fire station with the windows down and the clevo roaring, even though it always broke down :p
and the other reason would be when we went on holidays in our el futura wagon, we went through places that subaru outbacks couldnt! apart from the fact it had a epic petrol smell it was probably one of my favorite cars
another reason would be because my brother did and because he was older i copied everything he did :p

I am not that brand specific but if anything I am a Mopar head.

But generally with all these new disposeable cars I buy what fits my needs best and offers the best value-performance on the market of the day.

That's why I currently own an F6 and a Territory Ghia.

If something came on the market that offered better value and performance for less money then I would change brands and wouldn't really think twice about doing so. I have no emotional attachment to new vehicles other than exotics. I just like nice cars and driving. If I could justify it I would have a 911, now that I have an emotional attachment with :-)

Dad pretty much always had Fords though, XT, XB, 3.0S Capri, XC, XD, XE, EB but drives a Magna VRX nowadays. Still has an XG Falcon ute for work though.

My dads mate has a fleet of taxis, seeing the ELs and AUs come out of service with up to 600,000km of continuous city driving without opening up the engine was enough for me. A V6 Commodore would struggle to do half those kays.

But I like all the old Aussie and US iron no matter what the badge.

Mine was actually quite similar. I was 4 years old when the EA came out, but I still remember asking my dad what all these ultra-modern looking cars were since pretty much everyone we knew seemed to have XD-XF Falcons! I had an eye for detail from an early age, noticing that some of the Falcons had triangular front indicators (XD-XE) and others didn't (XF). I also loved hearing stories about Dad's first car, an XA GT coupe.

Now it was about 97' when I became a true Ford follower and believe it or not, Ford advertising actually helped! I remember seeing the "new faces of Ford" ads, and then noticing how different the new Falcon (EL) was from my parent's EBII (which was a damn good car). Before that I hadn't noticed the change. I started to follow them more and more, and really started to learn all the different models.

good thread mine can remember to a T. my sisters boyfriend had a xy sedan blue black stripes can remember the days rolling around to when bathurst arrived to see a car on tv then in the driveway wow sold lock stock and barrel first car was an xy and wow wot a car, ford all the way for this family

First car I can remember my dad owning was in the mid 70's - a Polar White XP Falcon deluxe sedan with red vinyl interior (!) and the super pursuit 170 engine. Wish I had that now... he sold it in 1977 for a new Escort XL as mum needed to learn to drive and couldn't cope with the Falc! That year Moffat and Bond scored the 1-2 at Bathurst, Lotus-Fords won the F1 championship, my brother had a 302 XB... how could I not love Fords?

Mind you, from the time I got my first car in 86 (a TD Gemini SL/E) til 2005, I never owned a Ford myself - I put that right with a BA XR6T and now a G6ET!

Always remember dad working on his XD, and i would always stand there and watch everything he did to it. Loved the sound of it when he started it, and it was only a 250 Crossflow! I always sat and watched the V8 Supercars with him and his mates, while they all drank beer and cheered on the Fords.

My first car i was dead set on getting an S13 Silvia or an EF Falcon... but dad made me an offer i couldnt refuse. Found a Neat looking EF Fairmont, with low Kms and in good condition. Bought it on the spot and havnt looked back! Dream car for me would be an XB Couple or a Neat 351 XD

My Mum & Dad owned Fords from when i was born so it's in the blood.
We lived a 5 minute walk from the local Ford dealer & always went down there as a kid dreaming & asking for stickers.
Mum was the one with a heavy right foot, in 1979 we were on the Nullabour in our 250ci XY Wagon & she had the speedo dial way down the bottom.

The list of cars they had, XY Wagon, XA,XB,XC Sedans, ZH Fairlane 351, XD shape Fairlane 302, XD Sedan 351 & plenty of others.

My dad and older brothers were Ford lads so i was too,but the kicker and deal sealing moment for me was the 77 Cobra one two finish at Bathurst,still for me my most memorable Ford moment and probably my greatest motorsport moment as well.
I was too young when the Fords dominated Le Mans for 4 years straight but it's good Ford history as well.All the F1 championships as a motor supplier as well.

The BA XR6. I bought the car and from there I found out how good these cars were.

Have driven cars from different makes and they are nothing compared to the Falcon (well the new FG is a winner). I like the way it drives and have grown to like a lot of other Ford models.

I remember my dads XY falcon wagon, he would take the kids for a drive along the Tullamarine freeway at night (when there were still traffic lights at Essendon airport exit) I loved the dash lights all lit up in green…

my ford passion started before i was born.

dad owned a sweet xw pano with a worked 250 6 cyl (apparently he copped heaps from the naval police over the car's noise when we lived in freeo)

i vaguely remember coming across the nullabour in it.

mum learnt how to driver in a mk11 cortina bought brand new from brad garlick ford.

we even had a ford anglia (full of rust and probably 1 million km's ) when we lived in Malaysia, singapore and thailand.

when we came back to Australia, we bought a brand new XE wagon. 'Bout the same time i got to watch my uncle and his mates (trevor drummond and steve mason) restoring mustangs from rust buckets to street machines. i was hooked by now.

my first ford was a 1980 yellow XD falcon with a column shift and 250 xflow. put some nice big 12 slotters on it, XE fairmont bars, exhuast and 351 clevo in it. loved it but being a uni student/pizza delivery driver, the XD cost me too much in petrol so i sold it..... big mistake.

bought a 1984 ford meteor ghia, 3 engines and an intimate metting with the roundabout opposite mingara on wyong rd and the introduction to sydney traffic (4 car pile up caused by a mazda 121 ) it got written off.

stupidly i bought a 1997 Hyundai excel after being told i couldn't get a TX3 turbo being under 25. :

fixed that by getting an EF gli previously owned by the Campsie detectives.

and now i have my golden 1/4 pounder, a 2003 BA XR8 falcon. Bought it stock and one owner in 2006 and haven't looked back.

i've even got the missus on the ford wagon by buying her a 2007 LT focus brand new.

Ford will be in my family for a looooonnngg time to come.
