Well it has come to light that i may soon need a different screen name for the forums. My screen name is very descriptive but doesn't accurately describe the new addition to the stable.
I'm now the proud owner of an AU III XR8 220 that has previously been cared for but Bluedriver (aka Maurice). My thanks to him for maintaining a great vehicle. Now the customary Pics of her just washed after the trip from Sydney to the Sunshine coast. Yes that Queensland. Sorry NSW boys and girls. She's were it's stil warm now. Oh yes and it's highly likley there will be an engine swap in the near future for those who know my other pride and joy.

I hate you! That is one of the finest AUs prowling the streets. I think you should purchase the (Genesis?) rims of BD to top it off!

Susan huh? Umm I'll take it under advisement. Not really a tough name and I'm not a cowboy. LOL :p
Genisis rims? She sure did purrrrrr all the way back. Great on some little windey bits we found. Thank you for hating me makes her all the more worth it! She will be cared for i can guarantee it. I'm only finding limited restance to the care rules with the misus. I've got roughly 540kw in the garage right now

Well I'm sure WE will be backing QLD on Wednesday!
Why the AU?... 3 reasons: 1. We have a BA Fairmont and she's nothing special IMO. The AU is the better car for my money. Obviously the Turbos are excempted from that to a degree but it was still no contest 2.I have a 347 Stroker in the ute. The ute is going to be downgraded to the 5.0 and the XR is getting the powerplant they always should have had. 3. LOOK AT HER! The engine in the 220 is great. Plenty tractable and good for power. However the stroker is nearly brand new has about 60 odd plus rwkw up and has a gob full more torque. Not that i even needed to say so. EF302: yeah. don't be afraid to say hi!

At the time of purchasing, if I could have got a T3 TE50 with leather & manual I would have bought one over my turbo. The AU is a ripper anf great value for money. Great Purchase!

Nice pickup there.
Where on a Sunny Coast ... my Mum moved to Sandstone point near Bribie Island a few years ago ... and in the couple of pics you have posted up ... looks kinda the same looking residential area she lives in. Although I did notice a lot of areas up there did look the same.

Ah OK .... I have been and stayed in Caloundra a few times ... so I kinda know the area ... I remember a few areas where they were developing around the lagoon areas and making new residential areas and dredging new channels everywhere.

Definately say the xr8 pured all the way home from Sydney, was a awesome trip for Tom and I and made very good time. The roads are starting to get heaps better on the trip from Sydney to Brisbane down the coast route.
If I was in the position I would be looking for a sedan also as Tom's xr8 was just sweeter to drive than any of the utes, down to being a shorter wheel base no doubt. I can say though this XR8 will definately be something to sit up and take notice of in the future months. That Alloy headed 347 sitting in the ute will make a massive difference to this car, its got absolutely bucketloads of torque and makes the heavy ute a really entertaining drive though the 3sp it had. Add the extra gear and the 100+KG of weight saving in the sedan and yeah it will be sweet. Congrats on the car Tom awesome buying. We'll make the next trip soon enough I'm sure. Maurice great to meet you matey and the T3 looks the goods. Was a little supprised there wasnt a stock pile of aftermarket wheels under your house though. No doubt we'll cross paths again.

Andrew good to meet you as well mate....yep they are pretty smooth compared to the bucking Utes !
I look forward to some nice pics one day of your ute and Tom's beast ! Lucky you didn't get much deeper under the house, then the Mrs's would have found out where the spares are LOL

Hahaha. Wouldn't surprise me at all Maurice.
Yeah i would have been nice of me to thank Andrew publically for helping me drive her back. Thanks again Matey. I'm looking forward to the swap for sure. And the IRS sedans Thump the utes for driving pleasure. They hold the road nicely. Bluetura/Mechan1c: I did see you there. I live off University way! Small world indeed! You would have seen it before the missus did because that would have been me arriving home from the trip. EVERYONE: Davocol's XR down in Vic was also in the running for which to buy. Great looking car! Anyone who's after a nice AU xr8 this is also one nice ride.
