Hell of a lot of work in that ... the undercarriage and the underbonnet surroundings and engine covers as well.

Looks great. Looks to me like the bonnet is full length but the opening is only 3/4 open as the front part of the bonnet looks like it's fixed to the car.

Or is that fixed bit under the bonnet ?

Lots of time went into that car beautiful job.

No, I don't like it. I much prefer the originals. But I'm not into custom cars.

I feel the same.
It's an amazing bit of work, but I see it as butchered at the same time.

I have to agree and throw the commentator under the bus. What kind of car guy never heard of an Australian Falcon? Especially with the age of the internet..

Personally I don't give much for originality, but, if it's customised it's gotta be well designed and functional....that's just my thing. I love the interior and what is the dash? Love it,bloody nice, well laid out and functional, better than the original in my book. The bonnet and boot ( oops, hood and trunk;-)) ) hinges look a bit weird and awkward, the front apron that goes over the top of the grill really tidies it all up,the covers on the engine look a bit weird, and the 5.4 is OK I guess, they aren't anything legendary. The rear tail lights and exhausts are a work of art, great to see it doesn't have the GS grill, looks nice, maybe a bit wider on the bumper, but hey, that's just me daydreaming and it's his piece of work and it's a first class job,a work of art and it's without doubt the nicest custom Falcon I've seen,it's real easy to make a mess of a design when customising,he's pulled it off beautifully, very classy.

I'm only guessing but I'd say not much, doubt it was anything super original, even at the level of money they are into I doubt they fork out for an original car...just my guess! Should have had a cammer in it.

A work of art no disputing that, but personally I am not a fan of the overall concept.

I am not a paint dabber but I would much prefer a nice factory style custom build, but each to their own.

I love it and would be happy to have it in my shed but if it had been my money I’d have taken a very different route along the lines of something far more subtle but of course that wouldn’t win the award that it did.

Thumps up to the Aussies that made it happen.

I was in Oregon over a year ago when I went to look at a wayward XB Falcon Ute that needed a home. On part of my trip, I stopped by a place near Bonney Lake near Seattle that does Mad Max Conversions. They did good fiberglass work on the deck lids, hoods and such. What kept running through my mind was making a fiberglass body out of one they had torn down.

I saw a set of NOS Quarters on Ebay AU awhile back and thought those would be perfect to copy in steel. Granted its more like Ron Covell metal working than making dies, but between that and the fiberglass body idea, it would be neat to reskin a Torino as a test.

Before I replace my quarters on the Ute, I have purchased 3 NOS Panel Halves, I just need the passenger side front one and I will have a whole set. But I plan on making a few metal working bucks to see if I can make repro panels.

I know that it would not be allowed in Oz, but the way they make the Camaro, Mustang and now Challenger/Cuda bodies, it would be sweet to buy some new steel!

The guy is American, what do you expect? Most would struggle to find Australia on a map, let alone know about or care about an Australian car.

In all fairness, I'd probably feel the same if someone made a T3 into a 2 door.
Amazing, but butchered at the same time.

My coupe is just a fairymont, so no loss, if ya get what I mean.

Look closely, they're just sitting there (to give an idea what it might look like with wheels that wide maybe ?) as the car is held up with the steel bars under it

Everyone is entitled to an opinion like it or hate it . You need to understand that if you are going to compete at this level it takes more than shinny paint and a set of 12 slots. You can't ignore the quality of work that has gone into every square inch of this car regarless of whether you like the outcome or not.
In stead if patting the guy on the back for having ago at taking on the yanks we have some people cutting him down for desecrating what was a rusted out shell.

Advance Australia where ?

Very true, in my book XBoss is like looking at a concept car or even art,it's there to be looked at,appreciated and discussed. Do you go off at an artist for drawing all over a nice clean piece of canvas? It's not for everyone for sure, that's cool...how about all these Mad Max replicas? Aren't they consuming far more original cars than this guy is?
At least this guy had a vision,a bank roll and the right people to pull it off. If it's his thing good luck, plus he's snow cased talent in OZ. Personally my pet hate are the people that make a half assed go of it,buying vehicles that have survived for 40/50/60 years in one piece and then they basically throw away most of the car to created their version and never get it finished,or it turns into a half assed nightmare, just because you have the car and bank roll doesn't cut it....without the talent it ain't gonna happen, another one bites the dust...to me that's a waste of a piece of history.yes I know,it's theirs, they own it and are "entitled" to do as they wish, but that don't make it right.

I admire the work that has gone into it, bordering on flawless craftsmanship but when does a car stop being a car and becomes a work of art?

Does it run? Can you drive it? Has it ever been driven in it's current state? Would you dare take it for a few laps around the block? It'd take a month to clean if you did.

Didn't you just say - Everyone is entitled to an opinion like it or hate it .

Seriously, what's it matter who likes it?
He does his thing, you do your thing, I do my thing.
So long as we like our own work, that's all that matters.

In any case, I don't think I saw anyone in this thread say they hated it, more so they think it's great but they wouldn't do it themselves. Fair comments.
Which is how I feel about it.

Yes it runs and drives
This is an ornament and it was never going to be a streetcar , so are all the cars it competes against
