My outer control arm bushes are flogged out on the top and bottom IRS control arms in my car.
Only the bottom of these bushes are available from Ford and Nolathane, where can I get the top bush? can I just use a bottom control arm bush in the top? Has anyone changed these themselves? Thanks Mark |

They aren't a bush as such, but a spherical joint. You need a press to remove and install the new units. Top and bottom are different, there is no aftermarket available for the top joint and the Ford unit is now obsolete. The only solution I have found is to use a BA-BF one, but it is narrower and you'll need a spacer washer at either end of the joint.

You can also buy a tool off e bay to remove and replace the top bush $30 + postage. The tool is for a BA but as was previousely said the bush that replaces the AU one is now the BA one. It should work fine. I have bought it but have yet to try it. The bush in mine is not flogged out its just squeeky

Tried the tool today. The bush is in that tight it didnt budge a mm. I ended up stripping the bolt on the tool. I am going to try again tomorrow this time with a little heat. I dont think its the tools fault that it stripped. I may have been a little heavy handed.

Tried again today. The bush didnt budge at all. Tried heating it and hitting with a hammer but no movement at all. Looks like a trip to pedders. I think the tool I got from ebay was a good idea but in my case the whole arm will need to come out and placed on a 12 ton press.
