Anyone had this problem? Just wondering if its common and with a common answer....ours might be out of left field but who know
 Call the leccy in the morning. Basically car is a trooper, runs like a treat, but no sign of alternator charging. Charge the battery she'll start, run, stop. But no sign of any charging in the middle no matter the battery condition/voltage. Belts all fine. Voltage just drops while in use and keeps heading downhill until it won't start at all.

Done a few alternators or KAs before so yes I'd say it's a fairly common thing to go but only as common as any other car.
Be warned labour charge is high to do the job as you have to take the world apart to get to it!

Wow, old thread. We ended up sourcing one from a Melbourne wreckers. Turned out the power steer fluid was leaking.....which is conveniently located just above the alternator. Run treat since. Nice thought having a new one or recond, but really, for what the car is worth it's a reach

My 2000 is leaking from the power steering pump also. Quite severely, but I can't ascertain where... do you know the location of yours?
