If I buy a car with RWC supplied, transfer the registration into my name, pay stamp duty, and then sell it within the original RWC expiry date, can a copy of the original RWC be used for the sale and subsequent transfer to the next owner?

Definitely not, in Queensland anyway.
A RWC can only be used once, and you have used it to transfer the vehicle to your name. If you want to put the vehicle up for sale you will need another RWC. This the situation for Queensland. |

As far as I know the RWC is only good for one transaction of transfer of ownership, you will need a new one.

Yeah, in Qld they take one of the copies of the roadworthy.

In Victoria you can use the same Rwc within the 28 days that it's valid for. I Ve done it before, unless the law changed recently.

NT a RWC is valid for 12 months. Can change as many hands as you like.

Move to Weipa. Do not even need RWC. Just transfer rego. We do not drive on state maintained roads around town. Chris.

Good old Weipa, my "registered" short wheelbase cruiser escaped from there. I keep it as a bush hack for a couple of years in Mt Isa until we moved south. Great times & the kids loved it. Back on topic - one use/transfer only for Safety certificate in QLD.

Why would you even transfer it into your name?
Id on sell for a couple of hundred bucks less and save transfer fees, stamp duty and paperwork.
