Exclamation door won't close??????

hey all, my mates au2 sedan's rear right hand side passenger door will not close. as you shut it it will just hit the lock and bounce back. from the inside when you pull the latch it will stay pulled and not spring back to its normal position unless you do it urself. i am thinking that the cable or something has come off or snapped?

i will pull the panel off tomorrow and see if that the problem.

any help would be sweet.

thanks neil.

Yeah they do that, just spray some crc down the cable and on the lock etc. just gummed up, you should be able to manually pull the lock back and fourth to work it thru.

Yes this can happen sometimes. It sounds like its in the closed/lock position on the door. Just look at the latch part on the door and physically move the mechanism back and forth and spray some wd40 or crc as mentioned. Make sure the latch is in the open position when finished.

And sometimes the entire lock mechanism can fail ... and it's a complete replace job (it's the same as replacing an actuator really.)

Check the cables/rods and if it is connected first though.

ok thanks for the help so far. i will check the cables first. but yeh i think it is the cable that has come off/snapped cos when you pull the latch from the inside thats the only thing that moves, the lock does'nt move or anything just the latch.
