Australia doesn't get the AWD Stinger, but a very interesting drag race...
https://www.caradvice.com.au/654562/...tang-gt-video/ It'll be interesting to see how the local cars perform RWD vs RWD |

One is a ricer (fast and furious) the other a Mustang (muscle car).

Unbelievable - and it’s 1st generation, and a KIA FFS. Who woulda thought.
Stinger isn’t for me but it would be nice to see the AWD in Oz. I did see a brand new black one the other day and it looked very nice on the road. Interesting the test drivers opinion on ownership saying for the road he’d rather the AWD Stinger and for the track the Mustang. I’m sure KIA are more than happy with the achievements of their first gen GT. |

it's interesting that the Stinger GT wins the race off the mark but by half track the Mustang is reeling in the AWD Kia.
The AWD definitely allows the Stinger to get more power to the pavement off the mark which is more important in real world traction situations....the Mustang may redeem itself on a prepared track that's not traction limited. |

I say if the Stinger can run against the Mustang with the AWD option, then the Mustang can get the 4.10 option. I would feel confident the Mustang vs the AWD Stinger. |

Speaking of AWD, there was a photo going around of a supposed mustang front hub with splines in it...wonder if that is still a future plan.

Pretty hard on a transverse mounted V8, it would, need to look like the raised Holden Adventurer to fit. that would mean a Mustang SUV.. I found this.. https://www.motor1.com/news/237009/f...-electric-suv/

...and no times.
Curious, especially considering the last Stinger vs Mustang drag race vid was a stacked deck. I wonder how much this vid was stacked? I would still be confident with 4.10s in the Mustang. |

Yep, so the mustang is a full half a second faster to 100.
Unless they are stock there is no comparison. Stinger was running very sticky michelin rubber they said...pilot sport cup2? There's the advantage you're seeing right there.

Mustang GT has run as fast as 11.86 stock as a rock. Stinger couldn't get anywhere near that.
I wonder if they used drag mode, cause it is much better than trying to launch the thing with no TC as i'm sure this guy tried to do. It speeds up the shifts in the auto to as fast as it can handle and keeps the tyres on the absolute limits of traction. I've tried it in a 2018 and it just works at moving the thing forward. That's the reason it can go sub 4's to 100. |

Interesting comparison, haven't read the article yet but Stinger GT vs Mustang?
Should have put a SRT Trackhawk in there for completeness.

The mock-up of the Awd Mustang has a similar profile to the Lamborghini Urus, which would sell to a different demographic, surely.
Not sure what the market would be a hybrid Awd Mustang. But who knows.

Pretty sure I have read that the next generation Mustang will share a new RWD based platform with the new generation Explorer and associated Lincoln products. Perhaps those front hubs mentioned were being evaluated for the new platform?

Seriously, who cares?
It's not exactly new that you can make a rice-burner go fast in a straight line. And even if this were a serious comparison, who is the target audience? A bunch of fan-boys who need to feel better about their decision to buy a Kia? Nobody who is actually (as opposed to internet trolls) considering buying a Mustang would even glance at the Kia. Those that own Mustangs won't care. It's only for those who buy the Kia but want to tell you that they considered the Mustang. In 10 years, your Mustang will still be iconic and part of motoring legend. As opposed to a busted-**** piece of Korean junk that nobody even remembers. |

After watching it the guy driving the Mustang was hopeless getting it off the line. He spun the wheels through the 60ft mark on one of the runs

My experience with Michelin ps4s is they are NOT a great drag tyre. My car hammers the traction control all the way through 3rd gear.
