Doesn't it appear strange that when the previous Batman movie came out in 2008, it was dubbed as "cursed" by the media, now this squeal comes out and a crazed psychopath goes on a rampage during its own premier.

I have no idea why people do this to other people. I'd like to say "only in America", but sadly this is not the case. Remember Martin Bryant, or the recent Norway shootings. 300 million people in America doesn't justify the "only in America" clause. There is no justification for doing this to otherwise innocent people. If you hate life that much - then just go and top yourself, leave the rest of us to our own.

TC200six, I don't get what you mean in your post - I haven't seen any of the latest Batman movies, could you please elaborate what you are relating in your post?

Edit: Maybe I should just go and hire the DVD if that's easier!

Cheers!

They say it was cursed because of Heath Ledger passing towards the end of filming.

So 2 big things happened, 1 for each movie.

Totally crazy?
Apparently he handed himself to Police near the cinemas... calm and collected.

On a smaller but none the less sick event, in Townsville..
http://www.townsvillebulletin.com.au...8761_news.html

Quote:
AN autistic boy was kidnapped, tortured, bashed and sexually assaulted after he was allegedly set upon by two young girls during a depraved and sickening attack in suburban Townsville last weekend.

The 12-year-old boy was riding home after fishing in a creek, when he was pulled from his bike and dragged into a house that was under construction on Sunday morning.

He was then subjected to a prolonged and humiliating assault allegedly at the hands of two girls, aged just 13 and 14.

The boy was bashed, threatened with a knife and stripped naked before being sexually assaulted during the terrifying ordeal.

The young victim managed to escape and ran next door, screaming for help, where the home owners took him inside and phoned his mother. The boy's mother, who cannot be named as it would identify her son, yesterday revealed the shocking ordeal in the hope of protecting other children.

"He was dragged off his pushbike by his hoodie and dragged into a house that was under construction and severely beaten up, kicked, kneed and punched," she said.

"He was beaten about the whole body."

The mother said her son wasn't able to communicate how long he had been held captive, but believes it may have been around an hour.

"They got him in there and basically attacked him severely, ripped all his clothes off, they had a knife to his throat and told him they were going to kill him," she said.

"They got him against a wall there and held a knife against his head and ear."
These are 13yr old GIRLS, one begs to ask what on earth is going on in their minds???? Are they victims of sexual assault themselves?

There is absolutely and utterly NO reason whatsoever for anyone other than the military , law enforcement , specialist security providers and farmers to own a gun

Fair point, but this movie franchise does seem to have had a lot of bad luck through Heath Ledger dying, a worker being killed on set and Morgan Freeman being involved in a car accident. That's why the media claims people believe there is a curse based on this.

When watching a news bulletin a few years ago when the previous Dark Knight movie was released, I recall it being descried as cursed as a result of what I explained above. Here's an article that explainins http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...d-tragedy.html

TC200six - got the link, and fully understand where you're coming from! Ta mate!

Jim Goose - that is totally effed - What is going on in the heads of some of the young folk today? I was taught to respect others - no matter what their circumstance may be. (as in no doubt you were, too) Those girls need an education - or more importantly, - damned good parents!

Jim Goose- Holly Molly thats low if my folks found out that i did something like that (as i am 16) i would get my A$$ handed to me and then some...

Why people do it no one will know. I'm just happy That i am one of the teenagers that would much rather stay at home and work on my car and chill with mates at mine for a while then terrorize the public with silly stuff such as getting wasted and destroying stuff and throwing stupid parties (that just me though)

while i myself would link the events at times, it would be nothing more than a talking point
i would suggest it was all co-incidences - no doubt this last one seems to have been planned for the batman movie, but it seems, there is only 6 degrees of separation between anyone of us. in this case the degrees of separation are much more apparent

just like the naked gun and poltergeist - although the poltergeist one is closer to having some merit

hollywood actors dying or having car accidents are nothing new. sadly neither are workplace accidents or massacres either

the thing that gets me (and i don't know how to stop it happening), is generally whenever something like this happens, it is quiet kid or mentally challenged kid that does it. most times (especially at school), they choose their victims and they always seem to be the rich and popular kids. maybe if the in crowd showed some respect to the potentially sick people, these events would not happen so often
i always hear about respecting the dead, which i find disturbing . . . because if the living was respected, there is a possibility many would not be dead before their time

This was what was being said everywhere after Port Arthur. The removal of guns from normal citizens did a lot of good in preventing gun crime in Australia didn't it? At least now the criminals with guns know their victim won't be able to shoot them.

Yep, I had to line up with all the other guys and hand in a perfectly good Bentley 8 shot pump action 12 gauge which was "illegal" under the new laws. As we were standing in line, one guy looked around and said "I don't notice a lot of criminals here handing in thier illegal guns...funny, that..."
I got $120 for my shotgun...and promptly went down and bought a brand new .22 bolt action rifle, thus negating the one "illegal" gun they took off me buy replacing it with a "legal" one immediately. Plenty of people did this.

We should blame the person who committed the crime, 100%...no blame should be placed on the inanimate object he used to commit the crime.

All of these sick and twisted acts happening all around the world, and people change laws, and people get help and STILL it happens. What is the answer?? I don't know...but I wish I did.

It's correlation, not causation.

Guns don't cause crime, but there is a correlation between the availablity of guns and gun crime. Simply put, more guns in circulation = more gun crime.

In a perfect world, you'd be able to take the ideal libertarian view that people should be able to own guns without restriction. Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world, nor is everyone mentally stable.

It's very much about finding an equilibrium; balancing the infringement of liberty with the protection of it.

These recent events are very sad.

I agree with this sentiment, but it's hard to shoot a guy when he's kitted out in full tactical response gear...estimated $20k worth of weapons and protection, a booby trap set up in his house that was acticipated to possibly take 'days' to disarm. Something just doesn't add up...he was unemployed for starters...

agree - guns are not the problem and never will be

however, if you have so many people so close to the end of their tether and allow these people to have a gun, what other outcome can we expect

if someone has a form of breakdown, but doesn't own a gun, it is difficult for them to shoot up a mall, cinema, school etc. if however, they are allowed to have a gun at home, then what happened last night is a real possibility. i realise that criminals will still have guns, no matter what laws we have in place, but realistically most of these people that snap would not have the contacts to buy an illegal gun. while they may actually plan what they do, it is more of a snap decision to actually go out and cause a massacre. therefore if no gun is in the house, the plans and actions may not occur.

Unfortunatly we are looking at it from a sane persons point of view other people do think diffrently and this man more then Likley handed himself in so he could explain his actions and ideas in a court of law hence in Norway we should make it a closed trial with all remarks he makes erased from public life giving these nutters no where to spread there insane ideas and there for inspire others might be a small step in the right direction. As the old saying goes you can kill a thousand men but you can't kill an idea now were seeing it in Syria

its not surprising anymore...he would of been abused as a child, daddy raped his sister and made him watch. the big kids stole his little lunch and he was teased in gym class during the showers..he will end up being the victim..
and as much as publicly we are all disgusted by this.. gradually we will accept it. we will talk tough about it but then what.. we will talk about it a little less.. etc etc. until the next one and we become a little less shocked .. repeat.. its just the way the world operates.

A VOLUNTEER firefighter and his wife have lost everything after a gang lured him away to a blaze so they could rob his post office at Dunwich on North Stradbroke Island.

In an attack that has shocked the small island community, Brian Conlon left his home and adjoining business just before 3am after fires were lit at the local high school and in nearby bushland.

While he was out, five thugs in balaclavas kicked down his door, forced his petite wife Betty to open their safe and punched her in the face before setting the home alight and leaving her for dead.

Police believe the group lit the initial school fire to draw Mr Conlon out of his home, knowing he would have to respond to the blaze and leave his wife alone and vulnerable.

Neighbour Andrew Windsor told how he woke to the sound of breaking wood and found a dazed Mrs Conlon stumbling out of her house with the fire taking hold.

"I ran up to see if she was OK and her face had blood everywhere," Mr Windsor told The Sunday Mail.

Yes but in the USA its a lot easier for anyone to get hold of weapons when compared to here, plus the social issues, poverty, the shear scale of population, the gun culture itself, the revolving door hosptial system which kicks out people with mental issues after a few days etc... all means that is more likely to happen there on a regular basis then it would here.

Using a gun to rob a store is completely different to going on a shooting rampage.
