just wondering as the other day i went around a corner in the wet and not any gas untill i got half way and yes i had the kids in the car so it the normal take of speeds and it kicked tha butt out as the only car ive had with lsd was a 76 torana 400 twin turbo it kicked all out all the time

do want to know if it is an LSD or do you know it is an LSD and just want to know if it is factory.

if you want to check if it's LSD jack the back up from the middle of the diff, spin the right wheel forwards if the left goes forward aswell it's LSD. if the left goes backwards it's not lsd

im pretty sure that all EL gli/futuras had a 3.08 diff as standard, but a 3.23 lsd was an option

i have checked the whole diff, and the only tag is the one that says spin resistant diff, use approved fluid only

Most SS diff's in the wet can have a LSD effect. Just it isnt as predictable as a true LSD diff as it can suddenly flick the other way if it feels like, like my clunky Piece of NNNN SS diff

normally there is a tag with a serial number and sometimes part number stamped on it. Will say 3:23, 2:92, 2:77,etc on it. Most of the time covered in crap.

if you cannot see this tag, then mostlikely someone has taken it off or it has fallen/snapped/been knocked off the car.

what is the car exactly?

it must have snapped of then.
its a;
1989 ea s-pack, manual, lsd, tow pack.
all factory fitted at the time of purchase in october 89'
there are a couple of things stamped on the diff though, in the metal. borg warner, and a bunch of numbers that have no reference to the ratio. could i quote this number to ford, and they could tell me??

You will have a 2:92 LSD diff without a doubt. yes your manual says 3:23 and 3:08 were an option yet im still ever to see a 3:08 diff in the flesh and 3:23 LSD were mainly on Series 2 Auto Ghia's and Spacks.

my wagon lost the rear going around a round-a-bout in the wet. Its a SS 3.08 diff.
Coulda also been oil on the road. "Spin resistant" i would ASSUME that means LSD?

Slip resistant would have been a better term

Just a quick correction, ALL EA2 MPI below Ghia were 3.23 SS, and all CFI were 3.08 SS.

I have an EA S Pack 3.9MPI, manufactured in October 1989. (Exactly the same as gthofan's car)

It has 2.92 stamped on the tag - BUT it does not appear to be a LSD because when I jack up the rear and spin the wheels, they travel in opposite directions. Is this a definative test ?

that spinning the wheel doesnt work if the lsd is worn, when doing to mine (it is a 3.45 lsd) first time i did it (not long after i got the car) is span oposites, and after a heathcote day the other one didnt spin at all! and it has been rebuilt and is definantly an lsd, just check for a tag on the rear of the housing
