Default Comprehensive Insurance

It's that time. AAMI sent me the renewal. $1226.

Am I dreaming thinking I'll be able to get full comp for under a grand for the Focus with 29 year old driver?

NRMA and GIO are asking over $1600. :

I am 31 and am with AAMI and live in Ringwood Victoria and I pay only $698 fully comp and rating 1 for my 2006 ZETEC, and they were the cheapest when I was looking around.
I was only paying $1098 for my 2002 WRX with mods 2 years ago with AAMI, so not sure why yours is so high...

Likewise I have an 06 Zetec fully covered by aami AND PAY UNDER $300

I also have a Megane and 2 houses all with AAMI so maybe why so low..??

You need to consolidate your insurances perhaps?

When I first got the Focus, was paying 3300 to NRMA. AAMI wouldn't touch me. Year later went over to AAMI, on 1990, then recently got a 10% from doing their skilled drivers course, so ~1790 now.

18 when just purchased the car, never had insurance, now 20, living next to a suburb which has the 4th highest rate of car theft in Australia.

My XR4 is with AAMI i pay $775 a year as a rating 1, they were better then anyone and really friendly, aslo offered me the free safe driving course.
Many insurance companies wouldnt insure the car for someone my age (21) but AAMI had no probs and were the cheapest by $500.

My God that is expensive.

Rating 1 with CGU $660 a year for my ST170, so a non ST focus should be a hell of a lot less, and i was 28-29 when I had it as well.

Far out!

I have maximum NCB with AAMI, clean record, no claims, good area... Sounds like I'm being fisted hard by these crooks. The car is financed but I don't know if that should make a difference.

Am in Sydney, 03 Zetec pay $800 through CGU, 60%NCB and 30.

A lot of factors impact on the premiums, especially location and lets face it Sydney is pretty much the car theft capital of Australia.

My 07 LX Focus =$860, my 06 Fiesta = $750
Both with NRMA,in Sydney, both drivers over 30, 65%ncb, multi policy discount, free rental car, no excess on windsceen replacement.
Sydney IS more expensive, you also pay more if vehicle is financed.

I did an online quote with eCar insurance and it came up $509.91. I thought it sounded a bit too good to be true so I read one of their statements and it said the insurer was some company in Gibraltar and is not bound by the Australian Insurers Act 1973 or something along those lines.

Haha, bargain!

try www.budgetdirect.com.au

My quote came in well under a grand with rust protection, paint protection and tinted windows included on the policy.

Jees, I'm 23 in a high car theft area, 1 - 3 point infringement. For an XR6 its 1250 on rating 1 and the car is under finance. (RACV)
I cant believe that yours is that high, I guess the fact that the car is an import means its expensive to repair in an accident.
