Default Need a favour

Hey guys,

I'm in need of a favour. I'm asking any LS/LT owners who have the Ford Stereo removal keys to please take their stereo out and take a photo of the dash with no stereo there. I'm in the process of changing over my dash lights to blue and need a detailed picture of the dash with no stereo. (I have a Pioneer head unit and can't take it out fully). So if someone could take a detailed photo of the dash and HVAC controls with no stereo in there, and post it on here or PM it to me, it would greatly appreciated.
Many thanks to anyone that can help.

Regan

Or, alternatively, if anyone that lives around Ringwood is not doing anything tonight (13/6), I have the keys and would appreciate it if I could come around and take the radio out just to take a peak at the insides. It'd only take a second.

Nah you have to buy them separately. If you were really desperate you could go to Ford and ask them to take it out, but I think someone on here said they charge $300 just to take it out. The keys look like this:
http://www.teamtorquesteer.co.uk/05-...oval-keys.html

Also, I have a spare Ford radio lying around and I have holidays coming up, so I'll probably will be changing the LEDs in the stereo to blue (the same as BlackLS). If anybody would like to swap it for their one (I could probably do an entire dash conversion by then too if it was requested), let me know. I'll find out the security code for you as well.

Well, got the dash out today and had a go at changing all the lights. Unforunately, eBay bit me in the and 5 of the LEds that I got sent did work. But here's a pic of it:

I'll take a better photo tonight of the cluster, headlight switch and window switches with my camera, rather than my phone. It's a much much deeper blue than that and looks absolutely tops. Want to thank BlackLS for all his help.

Anybody that wishes to have the same thing done on their Focus is more than welcome to approach me. I have 4 weeks off after wednesday and am looking for something to do with my time . I could probably get it all done within a day, if I had all the LEDs and tools necessary.

You can't get them from Autobarn. The SMD (surface mount device) LEDs for the dash cluster, stereo and HVAC controls are available from the internet. Try ebay. You can pick them up pretty cheap from there.

The headlight switch and the window switches are just normal LEDs with the long legs. They're available from somewhere like jaycar.

You would need approx. 6-15 long leg LEDs, depending on your type of car, and around about 70-80 SMD LEDs for the stereo HVAC and dash cluster. Takes a fair time though if you're not sure what you're doing.

I did mine completely a few months back. i was going to write up a tutorial but never got around to it. i took a heap of photos too.

Having said that, the LR is a little different in that respect.

I anyone REALLY wants a tutorial or just some info on any of the procedure, hit me up.

Some pic's of how your LR lights turned out would be great Tj. I remember seeing some pic's of an LR that had them done... just can't seem to find them now :

Oh and edgecrusher that's an awesome look - did you replace the bulbs that turned out to be duds?

Nah mate they're not bulbs. About 25 LEDs that needed to be de-soldered then re-soldered. I took it out again and tried to redo it but to no avail. I've decided now to replace the entire lot with the dash out of an XR5. I prefer the look of the XR5 and I've found someone who will be able to get me one cheap

hehe Nah I thought you did mean that. Just making sure ;)

Yeah the XR5 dash has a red backlit trip computer though, so I'll be taking it apart to make it blue, but leave the white backlighting for the rest of it. Hopefully gonna look good by the end of it

Bugger. Glad you caught me on that Chris. Was thinking about it for $800 :|. Would have been a bit of money to lose out on!!!!

What were you saying in another post about self inflicted problems you were having?
