Question au smartbar

i have just recently purchased an au smart bar for my fairmont wagon, and on the weekend removed the front bumper to fit the smart bar and there is no holes to fit the brackets? I thought that the holes might have been there regardless of whether there is a smart bar or not? my partner has a au fairmont sedan with a factory smart bar and obviously the holes are there, can anyone help me? i would like to try and fit it as i do a lot of country driving.
