Nasty train smash in vic. 5 June

SIX people are dead and police fear one is still trapped in wreckage after a freak crash between a truck and a passenger train in northwest Victoria.
A further 40 people were being treated at the scene after the V-Line train collided with a semi-trailer at 1.40pm (AEST) about 10km from Kerang but police believe one person is still in the train wreckage.

A police spokesman said the driver of the truck was in a critical condition.

A V-Line spokeswoman said it was not yet known how many passengers were onboard the train at the time.

The spokeswoman said the train had left Swan Hill at 1pm (AEST) and was heading to Melbourne.
She said that at a level crossing on the Murray Valley Highway, it collided with a truck, derailing the train.

Police said the cause of the crash was unknown.

Police, State Emergency Service, Country Fire Service and ambulance units from all over Victoria were all attending the scene.
