Default WQ XR4 - looking at buying

Hey guys,

Looked at a 08 WQ XR4:

It is black. clear coat is bubbling/peeling on passenger's mirror. Is this a known issue? Worried it will start happening to the body.

What other general things should i be weary of? Has done 80,000 kms.

Cheers

Yes I did. F*&^ fantastic.

I had a 185kw v8 fairmont before that; better in every way.

It is faster, handles better, has great safety features (DSC, TC, ABS) and looks great.

For the above reasons however, i'm unsure if it's suitable as a first car. I haven't been able to restrain myself from driving it "hard" for the first few days.. the power is truly addictive. Perhaps a regular WQ Fiesta is better suited.

Servicing is rather expensive too, as it requires fully synthetic oils for motor and gearbox, and double platinum spark plugs. I am getting a 'B' service done (every 45,000km), and it is costing me $600.

Also the clutch is very light, so depending on her experience with manuals, she may find it difficult in traffic (especially hill starts... or maybe that's just me)

I am selling my XR4 at the moment and it has been a great car, I just need something a little bigger now, , mine is great on fuel (always over 600 to the tank driving sedately) it doesn't necessarily need synthetic oil, just what came out of it, I just had a 75k service and it cost me $286 and I supplied the oil (it didn't need the air filter replaced either so that kept the price low!!!
