Default Something Disturbing......

Hey guys,

I was just having a look under my car to see if the exhaust had any work done to it........and I found something wierd and Im pretty sure not good at all.....

From what it looks like there is 2 catback systems welded together with 2 mufflers and two pipes to the back except one is welded shut.....

Here are the pics, sorry I couldnt get them any better my jack is out of commission and I havent got around to buying ramps.

Anyway I swing this I cant picture exhaust fumes being trapped in the system being healthy for my car.

Any opinions would be appreciated

To stop vibration/resonance through the system at certain revs.

My Fairlane is VCT and was/is stock and doesn't look anything like that. It just looks like a regular single system:- cat-resonator-muffler-tailpipe, one of each just like normal.

If I were you pmpdu, I would be changing them as soon as they are in need of it, to a single outlet system with Extractors.

The GENUINE FORD front muffler setup costs $1350.00 and the rear setup costs $1592.00. For the price of just ONE muffler you could buy a nice set of Extractors and a good cat-back system and maybe a High Flow Cat.

These exhausts are a RARE thing to sell

Really? What makes them so expensive??

When you say front and rear muffler setup, sorry for my ignorance but which part is that? All I can see is alot of pipes, I mean obviously I know what a muffler is but which sections comprise of the front and rear areas

I guess I would just have to ask the guys that are doing my exhaust if I can hold on to the stock one.

Haha it had me puzzled when i first saw mine also. Apparently the turbo territory has the same setup? Thats what i have heard anyway.

In regards to 'front and rear muffler setup' papa smurf would be referring to the mid section (from cat to about the diff) and then the tail section, from there back obviously. The join between these two sections in your twin system can be seen in the last pic, which i just realised uses a flange joint on one side and a clamp on the other .... :

Bushbasher - being LWB the fairlane might not need the twin setup. The extra length (albeit not much) might be enough to not need the twin setup to chase exhaust volume? Just a thought :togo:

Ahaha ebay knows its place, where semi-useless overprice crap is forked off as being "RARE!"

Its most likely where the exhaust will end up though, no point putting it up here....its just a standard exhaust lol

Thanks for the info Lukey

I meant that they are RARE to sell NEW, not Ebay.

As to why they are so expensive, they are exclusive and
also limited production. Not many people replace them
and so, I guess Ford has a HEAP of them left in stock.

As to Front and Rear, there is a join just after the 2 front
Mufflers and the rear part goes from there to the back of
the car, the Front starts just after the front engine pipe/cat.

The strange thing about this exhaust is that the front eng pipe
and cat are the same as a standard one.
