How is $56,000 "povo pack"? I know its not as expensive as the fully kitted out SRT-8 but its still damn expensive.

What does $56,000 get you at Holden or Ford?

Meant that as a tongue in cheek remark Damo, Sat Nav would be the only thing I would probably miss.

Am I the only one that thinks that's pretty good value? These cars offer luxury, looks and some real pick up and go. Sure it won't break records on the track but it ticks a lot of other boxes and $56k is the new $30k of 20 years ago

Yep.. Lots of goodies gone. And really, if your spending that sort of coin, you'd WANT the gizmos.
Regardless, it still looks like a barge

Yeah to me the 300 is the one to buy if you want a luxobarge with all the fruit.
A povo pack luxo barge is just a barge.

Having said that, even the povo pack is probably more laden with gizmos than the gt.

I sort of disagree with the 56k being the 30k of 20yrs ago?
Or maybe the 20 yrs IS correct? (Thinking 1993 Fords)
But looking back say 10 yrs a BA GTP was around 83k..
Today a new GTP is what? Mid/high 60s?
My point being.. New cars have never been cheaper.

Ok you've got me there, what I should of said was that price tag is pretty well on par with the rest of the market for a car that size and those options in this day and age.

I always wonder...will all these gizmos still be workin a treat in 5 to ten years time......I mean its not like every other gizmo laden car from the last decade arent reliable.......Everything still works right

Personally, I wouldn't want a povo pack STR8, I thought the whole point of the car was to have as much of everything as possible. I don't believe stripping some of the luxo gear makes the car any faster, just cheaper. The gear they leave out is what puts the car feature wise above it's competition.

If I was in the market for a STR8 I'd want the all in package, otherwise I'd chose the FPV/HSV option.

$A56K should translate to $67K Kiwi incl our higher 15% GST but the cheeky buggers at Chrysler N.Z. want $74,990 for them here, unsurprisingly they're not selling here.

Yeah I've had a look at the spec difference between the Core and the full spec and there's so much kit stripped out it really takes your breath away.

The attractiveness of the SRT8 to me lies in the high tech and kit, almost top end Euro spec kit for Aussie battler money.

They arn't kidding about it being the "Core" owning one would be like eating the apple core instead of the apple itself.

its hardly a poverty pack, have a look at it. It looks better than the VF Commodore inside and some may say outside too. 20" wheels brembo brakes and a sports interior is a bloody good competitor for the SSV redline or GS Falcon or dare say even the GT or Clubsport. Good to see them giving people options.

I agree with Eaturbo; It might be povo pack compared to the normal SRT8, but i still think it's pretty good value when compared to the GS. For the price of a driveaway GS, they don't offer much else apart from the awesome engine! The SRT8 is also pretty good value when compared to the GT. If only it had a supercharged engine!

Saw heaps of 300C's in Las Vegas...they were very common...

...of course, they were mostly all sitting in taxi ranks and the driveways of ordinary peoples run down looking houses...it's only here that they're seen as a "premium luxury vehicle"...over there they're nothing more special than a Falcon or Commodore is to us.

I did see an interesting one over there parked beside us in traffic...one of the AWD versions that we don't get here. Had a hemi badge on it.

Technically still better than a GS. I don't care much for features though so it doesn't matter to me. If I wanted an SRT8 I'd buy a core.

Guy I work with picked up a brand new SRT8 (not the Core version) for $60K on the road. Car had been sitting in a country dealer's yard for about 7 months.

He loves the power but he's only had it for 4 to 5 weeks, done 3000kms, and the ECU has failed. Dealer said 1 month's wait for a new computer from the States but after he protested they'll take 1 off a car in stock.

Be interesting to see if the 300/SRT8 are having some quality related issues.

Thats 347kw and 630nm for 56k! In my eyes its a bargin... the srt8 has recorded 4.4 to 100km.

my 2013 300c lux (v6 petrol) is going fine after 3mnths and 6000kms. I still love it the same if not more then the day i picked it up... again mine is the lux model, so it has everything.

did consider the core.. but wanted the luxury as its a crusier, and i did not want a brusier at the moment.

I just thought i would say i work at a Chrysler Jeep dealership i have driven both of the 2 variants. they both go hard and only being a p plater there's been a few skids and things. but as Chopstar87 said it has not a lot of luxury's but it as you all know is supposed to be a track car. Also GTP534 the short answer is yes. I have seen a few of them go capoot. In saying that every manufacture have their problems.

Just Saying.

What's the steering like in these things? Do they have a recirculating-ball rack like the W210? 90's Mercs were among the worst cars I've ever had the displeasure of enduring.
