Default child birth story....What a day......But a great result

Well its been 39 weeks on this saturday and all was well with the wifes pregnency ,so the waters brake last night at 1am, thats cool we ring the midwife and organise a check up in the morning get there ,she says everythings fine,I'll book you in for tommorrow morning 8am and thing should start to happen...........

So we drive home and things speed up and within an hr contractions are about 1 minute apart 1 minute intervals,we ring the nurse she says "stay home plenty of time" ,contractions increase in the next ten minute to every thirty secs for 1.30minute,so I ring to say we are coming to the hospital no matter what ,she's reluctantly but agrees ,so go back to the misses she on the floor in the bathroom ready to have the baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
I Ring the ambo give them all the details and the situation ,they were great but were 15 minutes away ,the emergency services guy rings back and says
"OK your going to have to deliver the baby"!!!!!!!!!!!!
(i havent done this before obviously)
So get her all preped in the position with the 000 guy on the phone telling me what to do "thinking this cant be that hard right"I look around the ambo guys turned up (thank christ),I was a little nervious at this stage,so fast forward 2 minutes we"re in the ambo, flying down the M5 as fast as it goes,(30minutes to the hospital) and about 10ks from the hopital there no stopping nature and with abit of screaming, bitting and punching................

Out pops my Baby girl Laura Rose 7.2lb still travelling at 160klms so Im told, sweat pouring from both of the ambo guy and my self, get to the hospital after getting lost in there for 10 minutes the babys settled on mums tum,we find a room cut the cord and were done..........

All in a days work eh...............we are very tired and very happy!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations mate what a great result! All the best health and wishes to your daughter, wife and yourself!

Is that your first child? If so, nothing better than being a dad for the first time! Best feeling in the world )

My daughter, Alessia, was born on 12th January this year so that makes two of us! She was born by c-section after a labour that lasted from 6am the day before (she was going into foetal distress so they decided to cut her out).

Enjoy these first few weeks, watching them make eye contact with you for the first time is priceless.

Anybody else have new dads on the FF? Anyone else?

Actually - this is a good opportunity to find out who's 'blue oval' has become the 'family car' and any problems/challenges you've encountered during the transition.

My BA Ghia is the official family boat - convertible rear-facing child seat in the middle back seat. Minor problems fitting the pram (and bassinette) in the boot, but we eventually sorted them out.

She will be a drag racer. Being born at 160km/h she has no other choice.
Well done mate. Congratulations on your new bundle of joy. What a nail biting experience though. Good on you for keeping a cool head through it all. I would have totally lost the plot. My Mrs still to this day reminds me of when her waters broke with our second child and i put a garbage bag on the car seat to drive her in. Hey, it was velour, hard to clean ya know !!!!!!!!!!!
We now have 3 sons and wouldnt change it for the world. Enjoy mate.

They are beautiful arnt they,As for the mid wife, there was no contractions at 11am so she expected a usual 12-18 hr labour as was our first child, yeh they try to hold you at home until the last minute.

And My birthdays on sunday too,so even more to be happy about

Thanks! The AU should be fine - interior and boot space is pretty much comperable to what I have. You might have to go wagon for any roadtrips and the like!

Thank you every one for all your well wishes they are both doing well, feeding and all.
I was told by the ambo driver whilst they were loading my wife in the van(and im scurrying inside looking for bags and randomly closing doors) my 3.5yo daughter was out the front with the mother inlaw ,doing what they do best, as my wife was wheeled out screaming at the top of her lungs,my daughter (livia) turns calmly to the ambo driver as says,"I think you can take my mummy to the hopasptial now".

She was still laughing as we were walking up to the room.

Oh and I beleive we are being interviewed by the sunday paper tommorrow.
She will be famous as well for first day in her life, bloody amazing day.

Congrats mate, your story is so close to mine. IE: My wifes waters broke on the 29.01.08 at 2:00am and when we got their they sent me home because of visiting hours (they told us they would induce her at lunch) and when I got back at 8:00am she was in established labour. We had a little boy and named him Henry so if you (or Mansal) are up for an arranged FFA marrage in 18 years time give me a buzz. :

How are your sleepless nights going?
