Default Cops seized sports car.... then crashed it

The driver of the turbo-charged, four-wheel drive Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII was stopped in the early hours of the morning in Manchester, northwestern England, because of his erratic driving.
He was arrested for suspected drunk driving and taken away - leaving two officers to mind the car while they waited for a tow truck.
However, it appears the two policemen decided to hop inside the 156-mph (251kph) vehicle and take it for a spin.
Their illicit jaunt soon soon turned into a disaster, however, when they lost control and plowed through two front yards, before smashing into a wall and flipping the powerful sports car on to its side.
The officers were found inside the wrecked motor, one with minor injuries. No one else was hurt.

The smash is now being investigated by officers from Greater Manchester Police's professional standards unit.
A spokesman for the force said the officers have been suspended from driving duties "with immediate effect."
Chief Superintendent Mark Roberts said: "I can assure the local community that this incident will be rigorously investigated."
"Thankfully, no members of the public were injured. I would like to apologize to residents if this incident has caused any problems or inconvenience," he added.
The Mitsubishi's 23-year-old driver remains in custody for questioning.

I love the part about
"I would like to apologize IF this incident has caused any problems or inconvenience"

Um what part about destroying someone's private property , ploughing through two yards and demolishing a wall is he unclear on exactly?

Would not fill me with ANY level of confidence in the investigation to follow.

Peter.

They weren't even meant to be in it, it was meant to be towed. The fact that they drove it at all is wrong let alone drive it the way they did

I’m still trying to figure out how a four-door ricer can be called a sports car.

In England they don't call a car a car, they call it a motor
full noise, those lancer evo's are pretty damn quick, AWD, light as, handle well, I'd own one if they wern't so expensive!
I wonder if the british police will foot the bill for a new lancer, or find some loophole to get out of paying?

That's a corker, drink drivers get what they deserve. This should be considered as a credit in his account when the driver is sentenced.

Your right, that was a bit preempted. Obviously assuming he's guilt.

Otherwise, too bad sucker.
