I've had a look around and have probably missed a post about this issue, but here goes.
My parents have an '03 Focus 1.8 CL with around 56,000km on the clock and we've noticed when shifting 1st>2nd, 2nd>3rd & 3rd>4th that the engine seems to hold its revs after the clutch is engaged and the accelerator released. Doesn't free rev, just holds whatever revs you were at prior to shifting for about 2secs or until you release the clutch (on a quick shift). We haven't noticed it doing this when shifting 4th>5th or on downshift through all gears, only happens under acceleration, be it around town or on a spirited gorge run. Any ideas what the cause would be? Cheers Mick |

Not a sticky accelerator. It does it for emissons control. It burns all the unused fuel before it drops the revs. As far as I know every LR Focus does it. Not sure about a LS/LT Focus.

Thanks for the answer, we weren't sure if it was meant to be doing it or not.
Looked like they were going to order an XR5 this afternoon, oldman said the ashtray's full so it's time for a trade in. |
