Just watching the 10 news in Melbourne and found it quite interesting that Holden is to receive a 13.5 million dollar grant from the federal government to help produce more fuel efficient cars.
: I’m so happy that my taxes are going to a private company so they can make cars that can compete on the world stage, and increase profits. As a tax payer, am I entitled to a discount on a new Holden?

Ford got the same thing for the 4.0l, so i wouldnt complain. Its really just a cop out to compensate them for lowering tarrifs on imported cars.

Personally I'm not too bothered by it. If it means that Holden will be able to keep more jobs here in Australia and generate more exports, the 13mil grant will have paid itself off.

Dont think youll mind because when the world runs out of fuel we might infact still have half decent cars that run on other forms of energy.
Im all for it, the only thing i hate in Australia is the DOLE.

Lets see Ford received 52.5 million earlier in the year, they also received 4 million to get the I6 to comply to Euro 4 emission laws.
Ford, Holden, Mitsu and Toyota agreed to the lowering of tariffs because they knew they would get federal grants. |
