a silly question:
is it the duck's gut's? or the duck's nut's? LOL, this has plaqued every one at my work, with the mad max.

it is the ducks NUTS. Is a food think, yanks have obviously skewed it.
It comes from Saxon Cuisine around the turn of the last millenium (1000AD), they used to go out and catch ducks for the village to eat, the chief was always served the nuts of the male because they were said to continue virility into later life. |

the ducks guts, means good.
the ducks nuts means bad. by the way ducks do have nuts, as with all poultry all genatalia is internal for both male and female. |

I have just put Mad Max on and even played it with subtitles. When Max, Goose and the stuttering mechanic are in the underground carpark of the Halls Of Justice, Goose says " You can shut the gate on this one Maxie, She's the DUCK'S GUTS".
Guts was used a bit in that movie. " Kick her in the GUTS Barry, Give her the BJEESUS" Now this movie was made in 1979 when the term DUCK'S GUTS was being used as everyday slang. I doubt Byron Kennedy and Harry. M . Miller would have stuffed it up in what was, is and always will be a iconic Aussie Car flick. Cheers, Adam. |
