Default Another Ford Cruise Control issue

So another cruise control issue with a Ford

Seems like the last guy may have been telling the truth about the cruise control

Lots will have to eat words for not believing that Ford could have a issue

Without knowing more fact's and info on the story I think it's a little to early for anyone to be eating their word's as such.
Problem's do exist we know that, this could be a Ford/Vehicle problem or it could be a one off supply issue that might be out of Ford's control, it even could be a dealer/Machanic issue, who really know's without knowing the fact's as such.

Ahh no not really - everyone picked on the guy who was on the news last year for not being able to stop his Ford when his cruise control locked on.

Most called it a hoax or said "It couldn't happen" called him a liar ---- maybe now might believe that these things can and do happen.

The only issues I can find on the Ford Ranger cruise control is supply issues as the company went broke last yr.... otherwise lots of storys of non-Ford after market ones being fitted in lieu..

That's all fair to say but this is a different vehicle and different scenario, some people may have been a little over the top with the other drama but let's wait and see the outcome of this before we draw any real conclusion's, like I said what's to say that it is actually a problem laying in wait or something alltogether unrealted ??.

I watched this too. By the story, he had issues with it twice before.
And the dealer knows about it?

The issue isn't make related - its happened on a number of different makes and models. Just hi-lighting that it has and still does happen and that what happened to the guy last year was probably true.

I remember lots of comments about that one and now it happens again.... just maybe as it has been proven in the USA that there are issues.

6 week old Ford Ranger cruise control wouldn't disengage on Frankston freeway/mornington peninsula road. Had to go through a train crossing but luckily there was none passing at the time. Also said it had already been repaired twice.

I don't care about the make/model/manufacturer or whether it was a one-off or not; that **** is potentially fatal and shouldn't happen under any circumstances.

Let's not forget people that the media will only report on what THEY want us to hear, espically this early on.
I'm not disproving anything as I never seen the report but I wait eagerly to hear the outcome once all the fact's are out.

Exactly, notice how this time Ford responded by giving a statement straight away where as last time they took a bit of time to make a statement.

What is it going to take till they realise there are issues - is it going to take a death?

Seems to be the only thing that makes someone do something about it.

It wasn't that we didn't believe that his cruise had locked on, it was how he handled the situation. The operator told him to put it in neutral and he never replied. He later said it wouldn't go into neutral, which is BS as exploders have a solid selector. They also told him to turn the car off. Then he finally stopped the car with the brakes. He even admitted to stopping the car with the brakes. How could this have not happened earlier?

I thought it had already been established by various media outlets a couple of years ago that MoFoCo were the worst car maker in the universe. Today Tonight said that they don't care about dangerous faults because all they want is your money, and anyone who buys Ford should have their Aussie citizenship revoked. Toyota have had worse problems, but that's ok because it's Toyota and they're allowed to have problems. Or is there something I don't know?

Is this relating to the "new" story (anyone got a link?) or the old one from last year??

Because if that is this 'new' story, its either very coincidental or someone is borrowing facts from the old story. As the McMahons rd railway crossing at Frankston is exactly where "Chase" the numpty from last year finally got his explorer to stop.

That railway crossing is the ONLY railway crossing along that roads entire length (except for the disused mornington tourist rail crossing at eramosa rd w).... so it couldnt be anywhere else. Very coincidental indeed if this new story is verified......

The video is at the link under Cruise control out of control.

http://au.news.yahoo.com/local/vic

I'm putting the flame suit on for this one.

I've gotta say this bloke seems to be a bit of a worry to me. Yes the cruise MAY have been unable to disengage but again this time the driver seems to have panicked.

If the cruise didn't disengage why not put into neutral (manual after all) and bring the car to a smooth stop instead of blazing around a corner and through a rail crossing. Now this isn't a direct attack at the bloke in question but rather raising the question of driver competancy in emergency situations, We've seen a few of these stories of late in which drivers have panicked and have failed to do the basic things right when needed.

Ford will investigate and we may never know the full outcome of these investigations but these incidents raise alot of questions about the training we recieve as drivers.

The story didn't actually cover what he did in the end to stop the car. That's what I want to know.
