Default audi self park & pick up

Just the thing for Christmas shopping. Audi has showcased a concept for its autonomous cars. You drop yourself off at the crowded mall, tell the car to find a parking spot, when you are finished you tell your smart phone to pick yourself up.

pretty cool tech, 20/30/50 years down the track we may not be driving any where, makes you wonder what a modified car will be in the future.......... probably extra cup holders.

This is awesome. It only needs one more feature: move parking spaces on its own when the parking time limit has expired, no more parking tickets.

Just imagine the looks on other drivers faces in the carpark as your car manouvers around the car park without a driver

car travels using sensors on the vehicle communicating with sensors on the road.
Audi envisages this will initially work in special pedestrian free zones, but it is also working on technology to allow it to be used in normal car parks.
However, while all of the technology is currently available, sensors will need to be installed in the car parks.
Nothing but marketing tech thats been around for years - Some larger warehouses have had autonomous lifts that work on sensors for ages now.

I cant see every carpark in the world installing sensors... What happens if one of the sensors failed and the car crashed or hit someone - whos responsible - Driver that got out, Audi, Carpark owner?

Fully autonomous vehicles like the Google Car are coming along nicely - Audi is just like a 6 year old boy flexing their muscles around hardcore gym junkies that have been doing this stuff for over a decade...

C'mon your not thinking, if everyone that uses this carpark has the auto park system then there will be no pedestrian activity

So which shopping centre is this? It will be like lining up at a bus stop or taxi rank, I'd rather just find my car.

And of course the retro fitting P plate version would be a huge seller.

Upon alighting from the vehicle it goes to the nearest maccas and pops its bonnet.
In about 5 minutes it closes the bonnet and drives to another maccas racing 0-60 at every set of lights recording all victories but erasing all losses.
This is repeated until the constant monitoring of facebook status informs it when and where to pick up the driver.

While travelling back to the pickup point it updates facebook with a the victory statistics which are augmented by at least 150% and posts the videos on youtube.

It then emails both ACA and scrooby so they can arc up and show the videos on TV to increase the hit count.

It is available in three versions:

"Robo-bogan" which comes with a bowtie badge, fake hsv stickers and a hubcap that looks like a mag wheel to match the other three.

"Robo-mutant" which is held on with cable ties and has XR badges designed to replace GLi or Forte badges while looking original.

"Robo-ricer" which comes with a wing from a cessna and 1000 mixed stickers left over from "The fast and the Furious" both in english and katakana.

The first 10,000 will also receive a signed copy of "If you never race you will never lose" by Bruce Banner, ideal reading for your next barbecue.

Available at all wreckers and Supacheap......

That would be funny to see, and to add to that , the cars has spent so much time cruising around looking for a spot, it has now run out of fuel and has automatically propped on the roadway with hazrds on and flattened the battery.
