B'day present ideas for 70yo Dad

Every year im stuck. He's the type of person who's really hard to buy for, as he pretty much has everything he wants, or is resistant to 'change' even if i find something better for him. After reading a thread on here, im gonna buy him the "Bowden's big green sucker" as it has rave reviews from alot of people.

What other little bits & pieces can i get a car & sports minded person. Or even a bit of 'tech' that makes life easier, that maybe an older person has never heard of.. etc.

Spend some time with him,

perhaps take him out somewhere for a day & tell him how important he is to you.

BGS is a good item, Boss Gloss is used with it makes it even better . Any Bowdens products are a good choice.

I used to get my Dad a nice bottle of scotch if he enjoys a drink, can never have too much

When i'm 70 i know i'll be enjoying a few drinks

Does anyone not have this problem?

My old mans birthday is a week or 2 away from Fathers Day so its a double whammy, and with his health no longer 100% I don't feel comfortable passing over a bottle anymore.
He has everything he wants and prefers the idea of negotiation and bargaining over "shopping" so will query how much has been spent rather than just enjoying what has been gifted.

I think the lack of replies comes down to nobody having any solutions. Lets face it what are people going to buy you (and me for that matter) when 70 years old, have everything you want and are set in your ways?

I have two Dads to buy for (father and long-term step-father) so I have twice the trouble.

I'm in that bracket and my boys always ask me what I want. I tell them the same thing every time.
I don't want anything.
What I do like though, is the thought and the fact that they still come up to spend time with me when they can. That is so much better than a present.

On the whole spending time thing for somebody older who has everything they need and probably doesnt want to accumulate more stuff i agree with. But, with my grandpa, granted he is really old, my brother and i like to take him out for an experience. So dinner or lunch is one thing. Everybody likes food but food is food. Fathers day a few years back we took my grandpa to the muscle car masters. Group n racing and walking around the pits. My grandpa didnt care too much for e30 m3s and sierras and r32s etc racing, but in the display area it was the displays of the old timer race cars and especially the minis that was right up his ally. He had a 998cc way back when so was chatting to some of the owners and he had a really nice time. He did not like the caged 1275cc stroker minis though, but he had a really nice time both spending it with us and also he was interested in poking around at things he likes. So i reckon an experience in a known going to be liked something will be valued.

I am in NZ spending a few days with my 99 year father. The guy is not frail, just moved out of 2 storey 4 bedroom family home, into a retirement village with independant living.

What would I get him for present ....someone to constantly upgrade his computer, he has old age shakes and as his hand scolls over the screen fingers often?always move and click on something and it dissapears. Ive spent 2 days cleaning up lost files emails etc.

Best present ...from his point of view, talking to his kids and grandkids and great grandies... 'at my age nothing else really matters.

Oh yes, last year he upgrades cars to '08 Audi A3 estate. Crazy thing about this....German assembled sold new in Japan, exported to NZ as second hand. Sat nav is all in Japanese. I suggested an upgrade..."why, I know where I need to go, why do I need that?" fair point. still allowed to drive in daytime.
