Default What engine oil for Windsor?

As title suggests, Im doing an oil change this afternoon and just wondering what oil other windsor owners use in their engines. Im changing it every 5000kms and using a 15w-40 oil, and probably a purolator filter.

So, any suggestions?

I also use Nulons fully synthetic in my XR8, one thing I really noticed about the oil is I'm getting better fuel economy.

Hi mate...a have a stroked EFI 302 windsor....I run BP CORSA in mine with a MOREY's heavy duty oil stabilizer....it works a treat.....main reason are one I have an oil temp gauge....and a aftermarket oil pressure gauge....with standard oils eg Magnetec, Mobil Syn etc I noticed it ran hotter....but most obvious was oil pressure.....normal oil with out MOREY's oil pressure would drop to 15 psi at idle and peak around 75 psi.....but after adding MOREY's it only dropped to 40 psi.......and only peaked at around 60 psi.....I would recommend this to anyone.....one last thing my engine was pulled out with 65000k's on it so I could put the stroker in....and I have run BP & MOREY's from new....and once pulled apart the engine was in awesome condition basically still brand new.....could still see faint lines on the bores from the honer...A must for anyone who cares about there WINSDOR or I6 for that matter!!!

Seeing as this thread is nearly 9 years old, and Mr Juicy hasn't logged on since last November, he's probably sold the car by now

Been having a good run on castrol edge 0-30,only cost about $40-50 for 5 litres, gives me about 40 psi at idle and around 50-55 psi oil pressure at cruise, ive used ryco filters for ever and never had issues,i used to run 10-40 redline but found it dirtied up pretty quick and costs the earth...
I have run thicker oils in my efi 5.0,it made it quieter for sure but also used more oil,had lower oil pressure at idle, fuel economy suffered and definitely made less hp going by the bumometer.
Id say 0-30 castrol is one of the best ive used for my car,not everyone elses car just MY CAR!

Haha, back in the day the black ute (what I had when I originally posted this) had about 12 different oil brands through it at varying grades. Did not notice one ounce of difference other than 20w50 Edge was WAY too thick, eventually I settled in to using 10w40 Penrite.

In the EL I am running exclusively HPR5, probably more due to the fact that I have about 50L of it in the shed

I have Nulon 20/50 in the ute and dont think i'll use it again. Think I'll try Nulon full synthetic 10/40 like i put in my BF turbo next.

i bought royal purple 10w30?????? the book says 10w30
hope it gonna be OK
Im gonna do a flush first with some cheap nulon oil
maybe run around the area for an hour then come home drain that for few hours and use a vac to suck it all out before dropping the 10w30 rp in
