It's absolutely pathetic the amount of indignation contrived by the offence industry in modern society. Especially ridiculous are those who sit outside the parameters of decent society and spruik about other people's 'offensive' words or behaviours; like that old man Penny Wong...

The difference here is that it happens so publicly. Should that make a difference, not really but it does. Same with all the gaffs politicians seem to make lately (remember the comment about Fiji or somewhere like that sinking from global warming..kind of funny but not from someone in that position) , its not hard to be mindful of what you say when you are on camera.

Its about setting examples, these guys are paid big bucks and for some stupid reason are "role models" for kids. Not to mention we have just gone/going through the whole media beat up of DV...which you can then draw a long bow and relate a general lack of respect.

Dont get me wrong I had a giggle but it could have been saved for the bar or an off air comment. Wrong time. It would have been gold if he was shot down with a come back but you cant expect someone in her position to be ready for that, the guy is a clown and in this case I believe an apology is acceptable; but again it doesnt need to happen so publicly. But since he was happy to flap his trap then he should be man enough to apologize on air aswell.

He was a knucklehead for doing it on camera - it wasn't funny, she was clearly embarrassed and he got what he deserved. If he wanted to ask her out or pay her a compliment he could have caught up with her later off camera.

Posted this link in the cricket thread too. This is basically the same thing but from a female reporter on sunrise. No one gave two hoots cause when a woman does it its funny but when a man does it its inappropriate.
So sick of everything being beat up out of nothing these days. The media and this pc world does my head in.

For a country which espouses cultural diversity and awareness it is patently clear this is not the case. Mr Gayle's behaviour may well be culturally acceptable from where he is from. He said nothing derogatory or insulting. The conduct of Peter Dutton, Minister for Immigration and his sms to a journalist, and the conduct of Jamie Briggs, now former Minister of Cities and Built Environments, and his conduct in Hong Kong in November last year is disgraceful and sexist.

Senator Lambie was lambasted! for those comments! if she was not one of a few palmers senators she probably would have been sanctioned but palmer couldnt afford to loose one of his bloc voters. doens't make what she said right nor eexcus eit but she certainly was criticised at the time.

Perhaps there is (whether there should be or not is a topic for a whole other thread!) but does the level of offence taken change because it is in a "workplace".

So someone flashes themselves at work and it is considered inappropriate, yet if they do that at a non workplace it can be seen as being ok? Not sure I see why the location makes any difference to the level of offence taken by the recipient.

The problem with this story is that other people in the media (dare I say it, but mostly females) took offence on someone else's behalf and suddenly it is a news story about how poorly men behave towards women in public! Please......
