Default Brock VL Director expected to reach more than $300,000

http://www.caradvice.com.au/91398/19...e-than-300000/

Can't see this happening, wish I had bought one in the late 90's for 30k.. Maybe back in 2007/08 not now.. Unless a serious cashed up collector comes along.

What's this energy polarizer?? Sounds like someone had a bit too much acid or something! And 300k? That is also optimistic. Still, I do like the car, I hope the new owner(if it sells) is happy with it.

There may well be a lot of interest.
Lets see who is smart enough to part with 300k.

The Energy Plarizer, from memory;

Peter Brock went through a bit of a hippie stage in his life, and teamed up with some wacky doctor and developed the energy polarizer. Its nothing more than what the article states - "a somewhat mysterious box under the bonnet containing crystals and magnets, claimed to improve performance and handling of the vehicles by aligning certain molecules."

Peter Brock swore by it and insisted it was standard on every one of his cars. He claimed it gave massive tangible benefits in all aspects of performance including handling, balance, and acceleration.

Holden viewed it as rubbish and were worried of putting customers offside by promoting "technology" that was so little understood, and whose claimed benefits were, at best, wildly optimistic.

Holden pretty much dumped Brock and started talking to Tom Walkinshaw.

That little box was the catalyst for the formation of HSV.

If there is any doubt as to Peter Brocks general judgment and mental state around this period of his life, just take another look at the picture of the red abomination in the attached article...

One of my favourite HDTs. Radical styling, but I think they look great. Especially in silver.

polarizer mounted to ones skull allowed you to sit for hours on end within a bamboo pyramid without getting cramps or stuff one on your commy and go around corners really good with flat tyres.....

Its ugly as, Wilkinshaw did a much better job with the same base he worked with. Still significant part of Aus history, and the Brock theme, and 12,000k's may possibly make it worth that to someone.

This car heralds everything wrong with the Aussie car industry in the late 80's - no class and poor quality.

A shame, I loved HDT Commodores at the time, but Brock was going troppo before our eyes and this last ditch effort for a bit of attention just didn't work. Sorry Brock, this VL is neither muscle or class. It's simply horrible. At $87,000 in '87, I'm surprised they even sold 12.

A friend of mine has one of the 12, brought it off the man himself, I spent a full night going thru ALL the engineering paperwork, articles , photos with brock , etc etc bla bla.. 100% REAL

When Brock was taking them for a test drive, a kid on a bike pulled out on the road, the car stopped in time, Brock said it was the Polarizer that stopped it from crashing !!!!!!!!!!!! true story

My favourite HDT car bar none.

Second would be a VK Group A with white powdercoated wheels (Blue meanie)

I like it, I really do, would be better in Black though.

I want an energy polarizer too, would have to be worth a few tenths down the quarter and a few kw on the dyno

the aero kit can look better if it isn't all red. my mate had his vl with this kit and it looked ok..for a holden...lol..quick 6cyl turbo though..
i've seen this car on australianmusclecarsales.com.au also..
in my opinion, if it's worth that much there would be a certain market only looking for that kind of car.. unless more money than anything else..
i'd rather get a vc brocky than that one..
