I would like to hear from anyone who has recently changed there rego over from S.A to Victoria what was the procedure.
Is it an over the pit full Vic roads inspection with a road worthy? Or is walk in with your plates and RWC and get your Vic plates over the counter? Also what costs are involved?

i recently did a change, not from SA, but from nsw to vic, and it was a roadworthy (full inspection similar to a blueslip), but i have been told that if the car is in your name already (mine wasnt) a roadworthy can possibly be avoided. Cost $66 and took about an hour, than go to vic roads to change your plates and re-rego. New standard plates were about $30 i think

Have to have a RWC done in Vic as we don't have yearly roadworthy's. Then pay the transfer fee, stamp duty and for plates.

my current cars i purchased from interestate. my eb i got from n.s.w complete with roadworthy. before i could get it rego's here i had to remove the tint and have ride height lifted and yet you claim we are more relaxed over here. roadworthy's mean jack if you ask me! we don't need regular check ups over here though, or any check up if its already registered in s.a and there is a lot of crap driving around so you are right there but to say its any worse than the rest of the country... |

We did a rego change over from Qld to Vic 4 years ago. Took a few minutes and all they checked at Vicroads was if the lights, indicators and wipers worked. That was it.
Considering it was a wagon with an extra row of seats in it that had a Qld compliance plate for the mod (not that they even bothered to check) it was all just too easy.

When I had my EF changed over from NT to Vic in Wodonga, all the guy did was have a quick peek out the window and pointed at my car asking if that was the one. When I said yes and gave him my NT rego papers he just said "she looks sound, here's your new plates, bring in your old ones whenever you get around to it." My wife and I just looked at each other gobsmacked. Guess things are a little more relaxed out in the country.
