Bullitt - 1968 Dodge Charger (You for got the '68 Mustang!)

Easily the best, McQueen drove his own car with no stunt drivers or special effects. A real chase on real streets, hell he even makes a mistake when he overshoots a turn.

Yeah good ol EF Falcons. They ended up in the movie destroying 4 Eseries and only 1 VS Commie wagon.

The bunker that they used as a set was La Perouse.

I just watched the "Bullit" chase, bloody unreal! Seeing two big block muscle cars (426hemi charger and 68' 390 mustang) going for it with no special effects was fantastic. And the fact that Steve M'queen did the driving!

Hmmmm the chase in Ronin is good but I think the chase from the original Vanishing Point (made in 1971 I think) is great. Good movie that.

Mmm...classic car chases.... lets see...... : .
There was the chase in the old FC Holden through about 3 suburbs by a couple of cops in Torana GTRs and eventually got caught back in about 1975... then there was the time back in about 1978/79 when I got chased in my XW GT by a cop in a Valiant Charger twice in one night and lost him both times, then there was the time in about 1980 and 1981....... : .
Guess you could say I was a bit of a ratbag when I was a young bloke......
Its not a good impression when your taking a girl out for the first time, get pulled over by the cops, and they call you by your "first" name :yeees:

LOL yeah the good old days,
i won a few races with the cops, but one i was well ahead and lost them in side street but missed a turn so slammed the old Holden HR in reverse and put the fan through the radiator, just sat there and lit a smoke waiting for cops to come.used to be good with no unmarked cars and no hidden speed cameras

What about BMW's "The hire" series - there is an awesome one of Clive Owen driving a BMW M5 with Madonna getting thrown around the back of the car.

Incorrect.

McQueen shared the driving in those sequences with a friend, who was a stuntman. Bud Ekins I think his name was, and he also performed the motorcycle jump for McQueen in 'The Great Escape'.

True, it does cover the entire movie. As for Duel, another awesome movie. Its good that you never see the trucker or find out why he was chasing him...

In case anyone did not know, Duel was Steven Spielberg's first feature film.

The cornering was due to it being Mr McQueens own car and he did his own 'stunt' driving

It was NOT his own car, it was a mock up of an original, as they did not want to damage(even back then) an expensive car...Everyone knows he did his own stunt driving in this, and other movies..
