Default Who plays golf????

G'day all, a few responded to my golf club questions in the 'tools section'

So my question here is, how many others play golf???

I have played on and off for a few years, normally scored about 115 or so, yes I suck!!

But since my first lesson a couple of weeks ago, I am now able to hit 96, and I know where I can improve on this. Aim to be mid 80 within 12 months

Any other hitters out there??

I love my army golf. left right left right left right.

Or as it is also called ' whack '

enjoy

David

Yeah i play a bit. Currently play of a handicap of 3. Last round was 2 weeks and i shot 1 under.

Takes alot of practise to get to single fingers, play twice a week and 2-3hrs of practise.

I'm with you David - 90's over 18 holes... not too flash, but I "play" for want of a better term

Best I've hit over 9 holes was 43. Won that day too. Had my handicap down to the mid teens.
Currently hovering up around the 50's. Only picked up the sticks after a 5 year break.

Here's me having a swing not long ago. Have dropped a few pounds since then, the game is just getting better.

It's a nice course here in Bowen. Breeze can be a huge factor being right on the beach. One big water hazard to contend with too! Bloody oceans...

I have a love/hate relationship with golf. I love hitting a nice straight ball, clearing water hazards and bunkers, the nice scenery, the exercize, pleasant company and beer after. I Hate high scores, missing the !@#$% ball, losing the !@#$ ball, drowning the !@#@$ ball, and having the missus call you halfway through a game making you come home early!

I do.

I play off ~22, however this seems to change every time I hand in a score card. I used to walk away from the Local course more stressed than when I started, however I've started playing more, and I have calmed down enough to enjoy the game properly.

That reminds me, I have to book in on Sunday.

I played in a lot of junior comps a couple of years ago, was playin off 7 at my best. Came top 3 a few times but never won : . I love to play but dont really get the time to anymore.

Edit - That 7 was off 9 holes, not 18.

I played about 3 months ago for the first time in 3 years. Bought a cheap set of ebay, and now I'm hooked. I've played every week since then.

It's the best way for me to catch up with my mates as most of them, including myself are married or have serious relationships, and we are not allowed to hit the like we used to. But a few cans on the course doesn't go astray.

I play havent played in a while but had lots of other issues and then before that knee ops but trying to get back into it, I play off 10 and had 36 points last weekend which I was happy with considering I can count the number of times I played golf in the last 5 years on one hand. Funny thing is the long game is ok its always the short game that suffers - apart from that I agree with Nitroman

Hit it nicely, straight up, wind caught it. I'd say it would have made 50m.

Next up I said bullsh*t, 3 iron. Sliced, into the water.

Not my day.

Yep it's a great walk imo......
Got into it late but worked hard at it and just got to a 14hcp but backed off due to taking too much of my family time with the kids and the wife being a sportsfanatic widow LOL......
Get a game in here and there and enjoy a great walk/banter/laughs.

Thanks! Got to sort my feet out a bit, other than that it does the job.
Play Rockhampton South often? It's a bloody good course, tough with water/trees. I always loved hole 1 and 5.
Played there a few years as a Junior.

Cheers

It's about the only place I've been playing of late. Still a nice course, it's kept alot better then Northside which is generally way too dry all over.

But yeah I played there three times in a week not long ago, I just have to work on hitting the ball straight, if I'm not slicing I'm hooking, not good at all.

I know Dave (aka fpvgtpyaloveit) is a golf head. If its not his GTP he talks about, its his golf. Used to play pro - played of 2 or 3 I think. His brother is pro and champion of Mt Gambier GC in SA. (Dave, correct me where Im wrong :P)

Im sure Dave will fill you in on his golfing background next time he's online.

You've got a really good swing but a very unusual way of addressing the ball. If that's normal and not just a real hideous lie, you might get a few strokes back if you work on it.

I used to play off 6 when I was 18 but screwed my back in a car accident when I was hit from behind and have only picked up the sticks at a range a few times in the last 20 years (was still peppering the 150 metre sign with a 7 iron though :P slicing my driver though!)

It's one thing I want to take up again, unfortunately work seems to get in the way.

I play rarely depends on how the last game went, about 50 for 9 holes hairdly ever play 18 too frustrating but i don't loose balls anymore as they usually go straight or hardly move

I've used it for a few years now, and it seems to work well. Keeps all my iron shots heading in the right direction.
If I start over the top of the ball, my backswing is a lot smoother. Better ball contact and direction is the end result, for me anyway.
I've spoken to a few pro's about it and they said it's unconventional for sure, but it does work.

Cheers
