Default lr zetec vs laser sr2

as stated, what would win in say a 0-400m or a 0-100km/h race...
considering both are manual and in good condition with good drivers behind the two

Power and weight figures for each would be a good start

Sheesh. Close figures.

Probably gets down to gearing now. And I get lost there!

Probably nothing between them. Down to drivers moreso than gearing.

Well if from the start if you don't get much wheel spin and can find second, I think you would be in a clear shot of the lead

And when you turn the corner, the Focus starts to win. Given there'd be virtually nothing in it in a straight line, the Focus would be the better car overall as a driver's car. It has an atural advantage in that it's newer and thus SHOULD be better, but it's a world-reknowned brilliant handler. Point-to-point, the Focus Zetec would HAVE to be faster.

Laser will be cheaper, but the focus will be the better overall driver's car and with the German build quality, arguably better built than the Japanese-built Laser.

I decided between runout SR2 and new Zetec back in February 2003 and settled on the Zetec brand new. Never regretted that for a second.

LR Focus was built in Spain, not Germany.

Id take the Laser quality over the Focus quality anyday.

wow get your facts right.... _

LR focus CL and LX were made in Spain... not the Zetec's which were made in Germany!

LS focus are made in South Africa except the XR5 (same goes for LT)

sorry Eddie... I should check my own facts! :

I can also confirm for certainty that my LR Zetec is from Saarlouis, Germany. So I knew that XR6 Martin was wrong... plus I've had first hand experience with the last of the Laser's (from Japan) and I think that IMO the Focus killed it in build quality...

i was tossing up between a sr, sr2 or a zetec. i picked the zetec, i drove the sr and it did not go or handle as good as the zetec. the build quality is very good, but i love the zetecs build...
i love the zetecs looks but i think the sr2's abit NICEer..
i just wanted to see if anyone had driven the two

OK OK I'm here to save the day and set it all straight.

LR Hatches and ST170 ALWAYS came from Saarlouis, Germany only.

LR Sedans ALWAYS came from Valencia, Spain only

LS/LT Hatches and sedans have ALWAYS come from South Africa only.

LS/LT/LV XR5 Turbos have ALWAYS come from Saarlouis, Germany only.

LT Focus Coupe Cabriolet has always come from Italy only.

Here ends the reading.

Thanks for clarifying that zetec! :

I know its way off topic but where are the Fiesta's manufactured? I was under the impression that they were German designed but built in South Africa...

4dlvr: in terms of handling, I agree with you... however I can't bring myself to agree on the looks of the Laser being 'nicer'... I just can't see it (but then again I'm biased now towards the Focus!)

Holy cow, it stuns me how little people know about where they're all built !!

Fiesta is built in Cologne, Germany.

Mondeo is built in Genk, Belgium (along with S Max and Galaxy)
