Default Resetting Base Idle on AUI???

Can it be done? How is it done? Does it help with idle problems? (geezzz I ask a lot of questions... e ) :

screw on throttle body?

it is on the ea.. im just assuming same on AU..

wat sort of idle problems?

if it is manual it should idle round 850.. if it auto round 650...

When the air con cuts in the revs jump a bit and the car serges (jumps) at the lights, then when it cuts out they drop. This has been a thing I've had with Midas for about 3 weeks now. I go back tomorrow to have the idle reset.

As far as I know...

- Disconnect battery for about an hour
- Disconnect ISC plug
- Start car
- Reconnect ISC plug
- Go through idle relearn procedure (2 minute lots of a/c on and off and in drive/neutral etc). I don't have it on hand however someone here will know or do a search either here or the other FF.

Adjusting Idle Speed (Base)
There are two different procedures for adjusting base idle speed.

Procedure 1
Base Idle Speed is adjusted with the ignition timing static at TDC.
This is achieved for two minutes after the Scan Tool "Engine Running" Test mode procedure.

1. Ensure that the Throttle Body is clean.
2. Ensure engine is at operating temperature.
3. Carry out the Scan Tool "Engine Running" Test mode procedure (Puts engine into base timing mode).
4. Insert a 0.75 mm feeler gauge between the Throttle Stop Screw and the Throttle Lever.
5. Disconnect the Idle Speed Control Solenoid.
6. Adjust Throttle Stop Adjusting Screw to achieve an idle speed of 680 to 720 RPM.
(There is only 2 minutes to complete this procedure).

Procedure 2
Base Idle Speed is adjusted with the PCM controlling ignition timing.

As the Ignition is advanced;
Idle speed is higher and there is no requirement to use a feeler gauge as above.
Adjustment time is not limited.

1. Ensure that the Throttle Body is clean.
2. Ensure engine is at operating temperature.
3. Disconnect the Idle Air Control Valve Solenoid.
4. Adjust Throttle Stop Adjusting Screw to achieve an idle speed of 680 to 720 RPM.
(No feeler gauge required as engine is not in base timing mode)





To clear KAM (Keep Alive Memory), remove fuse #20 for at least 1 minute. No need to disconnect battery for 1 hour.

PCM Relearn Procedure
If the Battery is disconnected or a Component is replaced;
The Keep Alive Memory will lose its information and require PCM Relearn.


1. Run engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Allow engine to idle (Don't touch the throttle).
3. Run for 2 minutes in Drive with Air Conditioner ON.
4. Run for 2 minutes in Drive with Air Conditioner OFF.
5. Run for 2 minutes in Neutral with Air Conditioning ON.
6. Run for 2 minutes in Neutral with Air Conditioning OFF.
7. Road test for at least 5 minutes at various speeds.
(Ensure vehicle is operated in each gear position, including Reverse gear).

Well the base idle was reset, but I forgot about reseting the ECU... :
Where is fuse #20? in the dash or in the engine bay :
