Are Holdens Good Value at the moment?

Very broad and general question I know.
(Mostly thinking of the friend who's looking, but thought it was an interesting topic)

Apart from the Commode, Holden's model range over the past few deacdes has been pretty chaotic. A bizarre mix of Isuzus, Nissans, Toyotas, Opels, Suzukis, Daewoos, as well as Europeans and Americans form the far-flung reaches of the GM Empire. Including some attempts at local production.

And for a lot of those, they really flogged em hard (especially the Daewoos or "GM Korea" based models) resulting in plenty on the 2nd hand market.

With Holden completely disappearing, and all the dealers closing, there's been nobody to prop-up and promote the brand. And, lets be honest, for many newer Australians "Holden" is an unknown brand.

My daughter picked up an equinox, about 18 months ago, and benefited from the dying brand, the covid depression, and the glut.
It's been ok. In fact it's a good little car, let down only (and critically) by the lack of warranty interest.

Now, as a general rule, used car prices are rebounding, but there's still a lot of Holdens that seem reasonably priced? Of course hidden in there are some absolute turds, but maybe also some gems?

I was looking at trax before i bought my jazz recently, carsales had the odd well used shazza mobile with frangipani stickers for $13k, the bulk of them were close to new car price though. But you are right, on your own for warranty.

The ZB is actually a very capable & excellent car.Great driving dynamics.
