Default What food addictions do we have ?

G;day all .. A bit of fun here if I may . What do you positively , absolutely have to grab at the supermarket to snack on , healthy or otherwise .

Here's my favourites .

1. Barbeque (Originals) Shapes. Just got to have them ..

2. Orange Slice with a cup of tea or coffee...

3. Thin cut chips or even Samboy barbeque chips when the footy's on .

Cheers Rod .

Chocolate. I gave up eating lollies just to be a little healthier, problem is chocolate is my favourite thing in the world and once lollies went out the window my chocolate intake doubled.

Coffee, wine, potato chips, barbeque shapes. I could go on.

Since being dairy free and pescatarian though I have had to limit some of the food I eat.

I try not to think about some of the past foods I freely enjoyed eating though. It just induces cravings. haha

Meat pies and jam donuts. I'll plan a road trip around bakeries along the way. You can tell alot about a town by the quality of its bakery.

Red Rock chips. Always have to have one pack around. I have (or had) a pack of choc chip cookies in my cupboard but everyone else has eaten them. I really don't like much sweets these days.

Yep , another favourite of mine too .. forgot them before . How could I .

Another one for me is Sao 's with a bit of real butter , a bit of Tasty or cracker barrel cheese and a bit of tomato and a sprinkle of salt and/ or pepper to your liking . Bloody lovely snack I reckon. Bet ya can't eat just one .

So many...at this moment enjoying long-time favourite Mersey Valley cheese on Cheds (had to switch to Cheds when I could no longer get Bretons).

There used to be this 3-flavour citrus icecream back when Bi-Lo was still around - don't know the brand but it came in a bucket instead of tub. Haven't seen it for so long now. Tried other versions I have come across but just not the same.

Got me going a few posts up there..... one of mine is proper jerky (biltong) & droewors. I do my own jerky, and have numerous South African friends who also make it themselves (along with awesome boerewors).

Meat cooked on a charcoal BBQ for several hours (or longer) - eg pork shoulder, brisket, beef ribs, pork ribs.

Olives, especially when stuffed with feta.

Salami

Chorizo.

Home made hamburgers, cooked over charcoal.

Not really a chocolate or lollies fan, but the odd kitkat doesn't go astray. Baklava fulfils my sweet tooth.

When I was a teenager we went bream fishing (we did that a lot though ) Did no good , the only thing that bit that night was the mozzies . Dad , my two uncles and I headed back to the car and we saw the low tide had revealed mussels so Dad decided to grab the billy and dipped the river . We picked about a dozen of the mussels off the rocks and boiled the billy on a quick made fire .,In and out of the boiling water for a few minutes until they opened up and .......keep your oysters , I LOVE MUSSELS.. If they don't open when cooking, they're no good . Pretty epic cooked on a barbie too ..VERY NICE INDEED.

even on their own just cooked enough , nothing on them they're a treat but overcooked they're ruined . Sometimes I put a tiny dribble of worcestershire sauce on them . Only shellfish I prefer more is scallops .

Red rock chips are one of my addictions, plain salted and salt and vinegar.
Feta Cheese- I often grab the block and a spoon and eat most of it in one sitting. But as I approach 40, I find my body is less (ahem!) tolerant of rich creamy foods!

The theory of a meat pie isnt rocket surgery but the science and execution behind a good meat pie is art. Now I prefer a softer base but one thick enough so it won't split and a hard lid. There is nothing worse then a pie ending up looking like a murder scene. My local does a pretty good job of the faithful steak and mushroom, and even if it was crap, for $3.30 I cant think of anything to top that. Although I will say the Mecca with me and the boys from work is the Mexican pie from a bakery in frenches forrest. We don't get many jobs up that way but on paper it looks like there is too much going on but whatever they do to it, its just amazing.

I just would like a meat pie which is meat, not jelly, not chicken, not mushroom, not pizza, not lamb and several herbs blend, not Tandoori flavoured. I'm sounding like that TV milk ad.
Favourite addiction would be Victorian Apple cakes (not Apple pie before anyone asks) are amazing particularly from Murchison, NSW don't have them.

added pic for description...

I keep going past Murchison & onto Rushworth for the bakery there.

Best 2 pies I ever had were in Tassie - chicken & camenbert near Burnie, and a Tassie scallop pie at St Helens.

You have to try Murchison next time, Rushworth's Ok. No comment on those pies.
