They have gone up, and the Chargers too.

But the phase 3 has the highest reward.

GT's are definately bringing the BIG money , but some Torana's , Monaro's , Crummydores & Chargers are bringing a lot more $$$ than they used to (some cheap ones too).

And people dont think Ford Aus could compete with Ferrari. Good on what was the worlds fastest four door sedan of its day for going for such a price.

it wasn't $450,000. It was between $370,000 and $400,000.

At Shannons recently (within last 3 weeks) someone payed 46k for a Calypso Green XAGT Coupe that needs a full restoration.

All Muscle cars are on a high at the moment, but there are diffrent levels..... The exceptional cars, like Phase 2 and 3's, the low Klm, few owner, known history, unrestored original and log booked cars are the ones fetching 'huge' money.
The cars left over that dont fit into the above catagory don't fetch as much, starting with good condition or over restored, maybe slightly modified cars (like mine) without history or books. Then you have the average condition cars which may need resto, or have had a real hard life. Going down then to the basket cases that need manny $$ and a level of dedication to return them to their former glory that only a few people posess.
Another catagory which sits seperatly to these are the replicas, some good, some not so good. These can be the only alternative for some who have missed the boat on a real GT or GTS or R/T $$ wise, as their prices have soared out of reach of the average person.

The GT people, and to a much lessor extent Aussie muscle car entheusiasts do seem to have a fixation on originality, and unfortunantly a lot of these exceptional cars will disappear into collectors/investors garages, and over time we will see less and less of these great cars.

Not to mention passed in a pretty clean XB Fairmont GS 351 coupe in the low $20,000s.

My boss' neighbour a few months back sold an meticulously maintained XY GT Falcon for $140000 and a 69(?) Bathurst GTS 327 Monaro for $135000. This was to help him acquire what he really wanted, a GTHO which he got a few weeks back. The previous owner was willing to sell it if he could acquire a purple GTHO that had been raced at Bathurst. That guy managed to do that and sold his Ochre yellow GTHO - apparently from what I've been told this car is in the Shannon's ad. My boss' neighbour paid $360,000 or it. The previous owner had a house converted into basically space for his cars - that's not including the garage. In this property there were about 10 exotic/classic/rare cars. The yellow GTHO has gone to a good home - the guy mops his garage floor clean.

I know of the car in question which came from Sydney and when it was brought a few years ago it did not come with the original engine. I wonder if anyone here know's what the previous owner paid for the car around 3 years ago.

I heard 3 prices the car sold for and was 350, 400, and 500,000 but was not given the exact amount.

There was a another Sydney car that went to Perth, I had seen this car times and it was total horn. Colour as raw orange with white interoir. This car went for around the 300 mark as well.

As far as I'm concerned any OZ muscle car that tops over $250.000........its over priced and your getting ripped off ...considering that soon you wont be able to drive it....fuel cost will rise way above the current inflated cost.

And will not be compatible with the engine!

That can't be right because the one mentioned at the beginning of the thread is the only black phase 3 made.

My bet is you'll pay more for one today than you will in 35 years, only the true musclcecar era cars with Bathurst race herritage will keep going up.

mmmmmm.....
if a car with a 351GT badge is worth $400,000, maybe my car with the 1600GT badge is worth 4.5 times that ($1.8 million), seeing as 1600 is 4.5 times more than 351............

ok, maybe not.

seriously, i personally would luv a phase 3, but not at $100,000, let alone $400,000. i just couldnt see myself paying that kind of money for a car.

but good luck to those that have/do.
they definitly wont lose money in the future, because demand will always outstrip supply, keeping the prices up.

and its good to hear that some of the owners are willing to get their cars out and use them, so that us unfortunates that dont have one can admire the cars too.

In your opinion there getting ripped off (it's worth what someone is prepared to pay) I wouldnt pay but the market set's the $value. For someone that can afford $400,000 on a muscle car im sure than can afford the fuel to run it lol. With things such as octane boost flash lube etc availaible I cant see a problem.

The old man traded out of his XW gt into a GT ho many moons ago. He eventually sold the ho for $3500 for a house deposit.

Could have bought a few houses now!!
