Using coolant and theres no leak? Gasket?

My car has lost a little coolant recently, there are no leaks or overheating issues. Is this one of the first signs of coolant leaking into the head/s?

first thing check its not coming out of overflow bottle, if so, replace cap

next would be to check around the timing coming for any signs of coolant loss. It can be hard to see, the leak in mine is only visible looking from under the block

As above... From memory it can also leak from corrosion around the water pump..

fortunately (unfortunately??) i have new water pump
not coming from overflow either

Have you had a look around the welsh plugs?

If they're not leaking, put a dose of "silverseal" in the coolant bottle.

I use it in my sedan and has sealed up a little leak. When ragtop and myself flushed and refilled my cooling system, the leak returned.

Another cannister of silverseal later and voila, leak dispatched once more.

At only $4 per dose, it's a steal and I now keep a couple as spares in the sedan.

I had the same problem it was a very slow leak at the thermostat housing too slow to notice except for some discolouration

check the top corners of the radiator for rust first

How old's the radiator Shaun? Check underneath the rad on the plastic tray, the tanks at either end of the radiator develop cracks over time and they start to leak. Trouble is that the coolant then gets blown back and dries out every time you drive the car.

My slow leak was from the heater tap was on the side facing the firewall had a tiny metal rod coming out was leaking from that seal noticed it when I saw white smoke coming from extractors lol

there`s a lot of places it can slow leak and you won`t see it, imo unless your very lucky your best chance of finding it is getting a cooling system pressure test. i think a cooling system place can also put some dye in the cooling system and see it under black light.
