Let me see if I can explain this clearly enough.
I live on a dirt road - where the road becomes bitumen the is a sweeping corner ~ 30km/h. When dewy / slightly wet if I come round the corner a bit quick (bit of hoon fun) the car slides straight even though the wheels are pointing in the direction I am heading. (understeer) The mixture of dirt and damp makes the tyres a bit slick. I didn't give it too much thought until the other day, different road, was slick with damp dust - as I turned car continued straight. Low speed BTW 20-30KMh. Lifted off the Accelerator and merrily continued on my way. This is a LW2 Focus Sport. It got me thinking I actually was assuming some sort of input from the car ABS/TC or ESC (stability Control) is that correct? I know in the FG Falcon any of them go off there is a horrible racket from under the bonnet from the ABS - never heard it in this car. Any thoughts? |
