I'd be finding out why it's so slow before you spend money elsewhere.

What sort of k's are on it?
The block is probably tired so crap compression could be an issue. To get in to the 13's I sugest Rebuild the bottom end, Cam, Full zorst, Gt40p heads, Explorer manifold, Bigger MAF & TB. An aftermarket ECU should be on the list, the car will see more power increase Whilst still manageng the engine and keeping it relible plus resnoble fuel efficient. You have to ask yourself "how much do I wanna spend?" The above suggestion could cost $4500-$5000 thats if you leave it up to a shop, any decent mechanic will charge top doller for a job like this. Plus you still dont know what the quality of workmanship is going to be like. A charger would be alot of fun but it will have to be more then just a slap on and go kit. You still have to do the above mod's to get a charger to run relible as a daily. plus I think you will find you will have to baby it seening as its a T5 5speed they dont last long being thrashed under boost. Id say go stroker, to get a 5.0L in to th 13's its going to cost you heap's Regardless there's no cheap way about it. |

got me on the time slips, thought that was average for a xr8 was a bit slippry on take off but no a major concern ran stk 15's instead of 18's.
motor has got about 240k still goes good always strong, no havnt done a comp test didnt think it needed it , hows this sound alloy heads, cam, after market intake, exhaust and a vortech s/c runnin low psi. whats the max hp a t5 box can hold. need to know any proven mods dont feel like spending loads of cash on nothing cash about 5g can do most work through freinds (labour freebie) ta den |

If a mate can't greatly improve on your time & speed, then there's definitely something amiss with the car and the engine/driveline should be fixed/problem identified prior to modding. |

I reckon that my LTD would get that atm. I only got 109rwkw at dalton automotive in Geelong. It seemed to be leaning out around 110kms so i would be egar to know wat is wrong with yours cos I might have the same problem. Mine has done 170,000kms now

when i first ran my ef xr8 manual it got a mid 16, so obviously something was wrong.
i cleaned my maf and tried again, after cleaning it it went alot harder and got down to a 15.3. now with underdrive it has run a 14.90 and have yet to try again after fitting explorer manifolds and larger throttle and maf. |

SL8R50, a mid-16! That's terrible. But getting it down to a 14.90 after playing with the MAF and getting underdrives is very impressive.
EDIT: I didn't read the first post! 17.2... Something's definitely not right there.

DNKPWR's dyno suggestion isn't a bad one, you may be able to spot from the graph what's wrong... |
