another massive drug bust in South Aus.
Having seen what drugs did to an older rellie I have never ventured near them, but my curiosity is aroused when I see hauls like this and the ex olympian that was in court last week. I guess that upon arrest these drugs are kept in (secure) places but after court what happens to them....... are they burnt in incinerators. sold to scientific laboratories. what else.

Following Court proceedings, drugs are incinerated.

hmm that would figure.
previous business I had we used a large high temp incinerator cremator and every so often the boys in blue arrived with bags, plastic buckets, odd shaped glass pipe things a pile of paperwork and they plus JP would watch everything go in and the door close. One day we did have a dubious character roll in asking if that was a regular thing we did and if so when and could he sit outside downwind. 5 minutes later he was escorted from our premises . I raised the Q due the quantity of illegal stuff to be disposed of.

Back in the 80's we quite often saw the Elizabeth coppers burning piles of weed plants in the yard behind the old cop station.

Before we were operating, if you saw the boys collecting pallets you knew a burn was about to happen, the boys had their usual spot so the locals knew what and where.
The trick was would the boys be waiting down the road and do booze & drug testing. Interesting times of cat n mouse apparently.

Back in the 80s they (SAPOL) used to burn weed with tyres so you really didn't want to be downwind...this was back when no one really gave a **** re the environment (remember how much fun incinerators were as a kid)

How the merry-go-round works here....
https://news.co.cr/costa-rica-has-se...e-drugs/82823/ Also, rumour has it, that the Cartels factor in “losing/donating” 8-10% of what is actually trafficked along our coast, gives an indication of the sheer magnitude of the issue! As for transporting 80 odd tonnes last year to Miami for destruction... I wonder what quantity actually arrived??
